Harvard, Yale, Stanford

I'm looking for information on applying as a transfer to these three schools. Any advice and information people have? I will be applying to transfer as a freshman from an Ivy League school.

Make sure your SAT score is above 1500(or 2250). Eh, get at least 3.5 GPA or so, and you'll be fine. But remember, these schools accept VERY FEW transfer students.

Fascinating....anyone?

There really isn't anything anyone can say to offer help....these schools are so hard to get into through the transfer round that you just have to submit an app and wait it out.

If you have any specific questions, ask us.

I have several questions.

1) What are the main criteria than colleges look at for transfer students? How important is high school GPA, SATs, high school ECs, college ECs, college GPA, etc.

2) How are these schools for transfer admission? Harder to get into the freshman admission or easier?

3) How important is it to pursue college ECs and leadership positions in that first year of college?

4) Regard recs from college teachers, are two typical required? And how difficult is it to procure good ones because frosh classes are usually large.

Thanks

You can find all of this out on their websites. Stanford, eg, is statistically twice as hard to get into as a transfer. The relative importance of high school and SATs fades if you apply for Junior standing, but still considered. Don't know that you can quantify the different factors. Some schools have college GPA "cutoffs"; most competitive schools are looking for at least, at the very least, a 3.5. Two recs can, indeed, be hard to get if your classes are large; so work at cultivating relationships with some profs/TAs (TA and prof can jointly compose a letter).

Now, if you are already a college freshman, you have missed the deadline for transfer apps. If you are not a college freshman, why would you already be considering a transfer out of your ivy (to another one or Stanford) before you even get there?
