Hi everyone. I'm going into high school this fall and does anyone have any tips on how I can increase my chances of getting into to an amazing school like harvard? I'm currently taking a prep course for the SATs and I'm interning with judges and lawyers. Please help! I know some people might get mad at my question because there is "no specific way you can get into a school" but any advice would be great!

work, work,work !!

I’m going to be taking most AP’S and Some courses at a nearby college as well as SAT PRep (i’m doing kaplan right now) I have an SAT Tutor, I’m interning with judges and I work at my parents law firm. I’m going to be on my schools basketball team, perhaps baseball, soccer, track and so on. I’m going to do many clubs. I hope that helped.

You’ll only find out what opportunities your school offers once you get there. This is one of those cases when you want to plan, and you may try, but you should stop because you really just don’t yet have enough information for your planning to be even semi-informed. (See: exul and her post-college life. Such situations just keep coming up.) Although you could cool it with the SAT: you shouldn’t take it until late spring of sophomore year, at the earliest.

You’re too young to be thinking about this. Put this stuff on the back burner until at least late soph year. Focus on trying out different clubs and sports to see where your passions lie and focus on getting good grades. Don’t obsess about a certain school this early in the game. You have no idea if Harvard is even for you, as you haven’t matured enough to know what it is that you will want in four years from an institution academically, socially, etc. Prestige should not drive your decisions at this point. It should perhaps motivate you to set goals, but they should not revolve around one school. Good luck starting high school!

^Amen to this.

Ok thanks everyone!
