Yea, I know it look quite weird, but my family contribution for college is almost zero since my Dad hasn't been able to work for 5 years and my Mom doesnt earn lot of money. Also, I'm an international physics student, who has been deferred by Harvard. (not an outright rejection, so I think I could be a litte proud :D) I just want to ask which school is good at physics and offers almost fullride financial aid for someone, like me.
Thanks a lot if you can suggest some colleges; you are making my dream come true.

Try the free SuperMatch tool…you can indicate your major preferences and a host of other factors. There are not many colleges that meet full financial need for internationals. You need to hurry, because most application deadlines are in the next few weeks.

start googling colleges at the top of USNews rankings – the schools that meet full need for internationals are at the top of the list. (There aren’t many.)

Besides Unis, also consider LAC’s. Williams, for example, has an excellent science program.

Go to the Financial Aid Forum, and read the threads that are stickied at the top on the subject of Automatic and Competitive merit-based scholarships. If you have the profile for Harvard, you almost certainly have the profile to qualify for some of those scholarships. You need to check each website to see if the money is available for international students, and when the application cut-off date is. Some applications were due by December 1st.

^^the problem h-mom, is that schools that offer merit scholarships generally do not meet full financial need. Thus, the International OP – who is ineligible for a Pell or federal loans - would have to score a full ride (tuition, room and board, books), which are extremely rare.

Which is exactly why I referred the OP to those threads. Yes, some are true full-rides, and yes some of them are open to International applicants (or at least were open as recently as last year). For someone with Harvard-quality stats and brains, it shouldn’t take too long to verify which of those scholarships are currently open to international students.

If you have Harvard-level stats and are interested in Physics, you should apply to Grinnell and to Lawrence (Lawrence, in particular, is unusually strong in physics and it’s R1 program matches junior with Research1 labs). Both have financial aid for international students.
