No one ever made this so I figured I’d make one. Five (or fewer) days left everybody! How are you all feeling? What do you like most about Mudd? What are you excited to do should you get in? Good luck everyone!!
Feeling sort of nervous! I was “recruited” for swimming, so I’m definitely excited to be able to compete D3 and study at the best undergrad engineering/STEM school in the country. I’m abroad right now, but I’ll probably go out and party if I get in. Good luck to all of you applying ED1!
@CCThunderfin I’m jealous!! hopefully I see you there next year!!
Ahh I’m nervous! Anyone want to share their stats?
@cavalry Haha don’t be, nothing’s guaranteed for me since it’s D3, it’s more just a little bump for my application. I’m sure your stats are amazing.
stats:3.86 UW, 35 ACT (35 E 35 M 36 R 33 S)
ECs: Eagle Scout Candidate and Troop SPL (doing my project rn then im finito); National Youth Leadership Training Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Part Time Job delivering Pizza, Varsity Golf, Varsity Tennis, Self Teaching Programming
on MIT OCW (although haven’t done anything with it yet lol), Debate club president, Wilderness Club Vice President, and I’ve tutored like 12 people over the last few years (math, physics, english, and history).
@CCThunderfin Thanks haha and have some faith man u got this.
Could either of you do me a favor and check your financial aid profile and let me know if you have the Authorization of Allowable Charges showing up? Cuz it appeared on mine last night and according to an old CC thread it only shows up for people after they’re accepted so I’m low key buggin out but also I think it might be smth they accidentally sent to everyone so I’m containing the hype.
Hey! I applied Early Decision and I really hope I make it in. The anticipation is killing me! 2 other people from my school applied ED so I don’t know if that hurts my chances. I checked my Financial Aid Portal, and I got that authorization of allowable charges form, but I never saw that page until you mentioned it.
@cavalry Hey I just checked my portal, and yes I got the Authorization of Allowable Charges… this is syking me out! Where did you find the info about those who got accepted having this appear on their portal?
@cancanpiano based on the fact you, me, and earthy all seem to have it, unless we all got really lucky (maybe we did) they probably accidentally sent it to everyone. good luck to us all either way
also @earthy345 to be clear, i was reffering to this thread from last year: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/harvey-mudd-college/1967972-official-harvey-mudd-class-of-2021-rd-discussions-thread-p5.html
In the third and second from last comments on that thread one person remarks “I still haven’t received my award, but I swear it wasn’t there before I received admission.” and another responds “it was not there before but should show up now [that you’re accepted]. If you still don’t see it call the FA office” thus my interpretation was that this was an accepted-students-only thing. However, as I said above, the circumstances suggest it’s just a glitch. Regardless, us three isn’t really enough to say with certainty that it’s a coincidence. And again, good luck to us all
My son has applied ED, so we’re very anxiously waiting for news here (in Virginia). I’m not going to share his stats because it’s not my info to share, but I think he’s a strong candidate. Nevertheless, there are no guarantees at a school like this, so we’re just keeping our fingers crossed. I think it would be a great school for him, BUT I also know that the intelligent, motivated students who apply ED to Mudd would do well anywhere they go. I’m sure he’ll be sad if he doesn’t get in, but I have no doubt that he will find a great school where he will flourish. I’m guessing, if you are the kind of students attracted to HMC, that the same is true for you. Good luck to everyone!
PS We aren’t applying for financial aid so I can’t comment on the Authorization of Allowable Charges.
@mountaincachers I think you’re pretty spot on with what you said. best of luck to your son! and no worries about the form, it is what it is now, decisions are probably already made no sense worrying!
@cavalry Thanks man, all the best to you too. Your stats are great and you have just a good a chance as anyone for Mudd-- hope we both make it in!
hey, I have the authorization of allowable charges form too and I applied ED1, but I am a pretty average student. Honestly, doubt it means something.
Okay ummmmm… a I know it’s bit late but the text on the top of my Applicant Hub changed to a simple “thank you”. Did that happen for anyone else?
@Bintheredonethat Which page on the Hub? Mine still looks the same.
@Bintheredonethat yes above my submitted materials I.t says “thank you for applying to Harvey Mudd College”. Hope that’s not a bad sign lol.
@CCThunderfin open your portal and click your 2018 ed 1 application. Click open and above where the credentials are for me I.t says what I quoted above
Crap I’m scared now urghghghghhh
@cavalry @Bintheredonethat Yep, I checked my portal and I’m not getting that message. Weird…
I think we’ve figured it out. Me and two other people in my class are pretty sure that, if you’re applying for financial aid, you won’t see the “Thank you” message. There should be a blue box with a link to your financial aid application and IDOC if you ARE applying for financial aid.
If you aren’t applying for financial aid, the thank you message should show up.
Does this pattern hold for everyone else?
