DD got into this program. She is so excited! Who else is in?
Congratulations to your daughter. They only take 30 out of 170 applicants. Can you share your DD’s stats for future applicants’ reference? Thanks.
Yes. Also curious to know her stats. My son would be interested in Engineering–
She has high GPA, SAT and above average EC. Also, she is a good writer. But she is not an Intel finalist caliber.
My daughter got in too. So glad she applied. She can’t wait to go.
My son went to Spring FAST last year — and was accepted to HMC this year. We couldn’t be more thrilled!
Congratulations to your son @ClaremontMom. What did he think of FAST last year? Has he decided on HMC yet?
Thanks @motherof3kids! My son applied ED2 so he’s definitely committed. I think he found Spring FAST to be another good opportunity to learn more about the school and to meet faculty and staff in a more personal setting.
Congratulations @ClaremontMom HMC is one of the top schools on my DD list. She is so excited to attend Spring Fast tomorrow. Any tips?
Thanks @seal16 and congratulations back at you. No real tips on attending Spring Fast except enjoy it and learn all you can. My son says besides tours, a math session with a teacher etc., one of the activities was actually learning about what they are looking for in an applicant. They had the students pretending to work in admissions and evaluating “applications”. I found that interesting…
Thank you @ClaremontMom For this pretend admission game do they have to bring their resume?
@seal16 - No, not at all. They evaluated fictitious applicants.
My DD attended Spring FAST and enjoyed it. Should she apply to Fall FAST as well? It is probably the same thing just overnight, correct? Anyone has experience with both? Also, somebody told me that they give application fee credit for FAST attendees. Is it for both programs and how do you get this credit?
Thank you.
My son (and a friend) both attended Spring Fast. Both applied for and were denied Fall Fast so the assumption was that they want to give other kids a chance. The Fall Fast seems to have more (especially since it is overnight).
Yes, the fee waiver is on the common app. There’s a question if you qualify for a waiver and one of the choices is “Spring FAST Participant”. Easy!
Thank you @ClaremontMom That is what I was thinking.
