Harvey Mudd vs Pomona College for Computer Science?

So I know that Harvey Mudd is the engineering school of the Clarement Colleges and likely has a better program, but I really like Pomona. I'm pretty set on Computer Science so I don't know if Harvey Mudd would be better for the better program or not. I know you can take some classes between the separate colleges so I'd probably end up taking several classes from Harvey Mudd regardless. But I think I might like Pomona overall more than Harvey Mudd. What are the true differences between them, pros and cons for CS? Will I get the same education/opportunities from both?

Also, although I won't have a problem with the applications for either of them, I already know that I could write a strong essay for the supplemental essay for Pomona, while the Harvey Mudd essay would take me longer to write one as good.

[Courses - Pomona College - Acalog ACMS?](<a href=“Courses - Pomona College - Acalog ACMS™”>Courses - Pomona College - Acalog ACMS™) indicates that most of the computer science courses are offered at Harvey Mudd (HM). If you attend Pomona, you need to check on the cross registration policies.

Of course, you may want to check on how the major and breadth requirements at each school differ.

There isn’t much of a difference between them because they share Computer Science resources together (the program is joint). Harvey Mudd will be more prestigious for CS and has a little more classes for computer science than Pomona does, but Pomona is very close in terms of prestige and has a good deal of CS classes Harvey Mudd doesn’t.

You have to take the intro comp sci section at Pomona though, I think, but I’ve heard good things about the department.

Both are very difficult to be admitted to. Definitely, apply to BOTH. Worry about differences later, only if you are very lucky to be admitted at both.

The major differences between HMC and Pomona are going to be in campus culture and distribution/breadth/core requirements. Harvey Mudd is very tech-oriented in its required courses outside of computer science, while Pomona is traditionally liberal-arts-oriented. Two very different approaches to your college education outside of your major.

So I just found out Harvey Mudd asks for a humanities teacher recommendation, which I don’t have. Will this immediately disqualify me from the school?

Re: #5

Harvey Mudd does require HSA 10 plus 11 other courses in humanities, social studies, and arts:
[Humanities, Social Sciences, and the Arts](http://www.hmc.edu/academicsclinicresearch/catalogue1/catalogue-10111/academic-programs1/humanities-social-sciences-arts.html)
It also has a core curriculum with lots of math and science:
[Common Core](http://www.hmc.edu/academicsclinicresearch/catalogue1/catalogue-10111/academic-programs1/common-core.html)

Pomona’s breadth requirements are include a critical inquiry seminar, 5 breadth courses (creative expression; social institutions and human behavior; history, values, ethics, and cultural studies; physical and biological sciences; mathematical reasoning), a foreign language requirement, and physical education:
