I am pursuing a Physics degree and am stuck between Harvey Mudd and Swarthmore.
-Both physics departments seem wonderful.
-I am planning on going to Grad School.
-Mudd and Swarthmore are number two and three to have students go onto Grad School respectively.

It doesn''t seem like there is a wrong choice, but...

1) From which school is the degree "more impressive"?
2) Which school would you pick? Why?

PS: I will be making visits within the next week to get a feel, but I am wondering what you think.

You are right, you can’t make a bad choice. To me the schools are equally impressive. And it is great that you can visit the two schools within a week. To me, the main difference is that Mudd is really geared towards science/math/engineering while Swarthmore is also excellent in physics but will have more diversity in terms of the students and their interests. That might or might not be important to you. Also the schools are in very different locations so if one is preferable to another that is a factor as well. Visit and pay attention to the students, the campus, the science facilities, and the overall “vibe” of each place. Then go to to the school that feels right to you and never look back.
