I was accepted at HMC, which I believe is a great college. I already sent the deposit there. I was waitlisted at WUSTL. I have realized that the only way it would be a change of getting off the wait list would be to show an extremely high interest in WUSTL, and commiting to enroll.
But, would it be wise? I like HMC more, but I would prefer better academics than better environment?
What should I do?

Sounds like you want HMC. I think HMC is far superior to Wash. U. But you need to figure this out for yourself.

Hmmm.... I'm not sure what you're asking.

These are two very different schools on the face of it. If you're trying to decide which one would be better for you in the long run, that may involve some introspection. What are your goals? Do you plan on continuing to grad or professional school? What type of person are you? Would you fit better into a smaller environment or a much larger one? Have you decided on a probable major? If so, can you compare the resources at both schools? If you plan on working after college, would one location be more favorable for you than the other?

I'm more familiar with HMC than WUStL (which I think is a great science school, BTW). If you're worried about the academics at HMC, I can assure you that you need have no cause for concern. How any one discipline would compare between the two schools, though, I can't say. If you think you should stay on the waitlist at WUStL and pursue it, then you probably should. Just don't feel that you have to because HMC is in some way academically inferior (because it's not). Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Thank you, especially Mudder's_Mudder.
I want to study engineering. I have done some research about Mudd but not very much about WUSTL. I just want to know how good is this last for engineering.

Harvey Mudd is the best of LAC for engineers. The second one is Lafayette College.
