have they already made a decision?(probably a rejection without semester grades)..

Please do not read anything into this - just means your file has all of the necessary components to be reviewed and has been pull to be read by the committee. It does not mean a decision has been made. Good luck!

Committee means two people touch the file.
Initial reader and concurring reader. the stats take 3 minutes to look at the essay and recs are the time consumer. The file is evaluated on several criteria, the score weighted and a decision rendered. Two independent people read the file without prejudice of the other reader’s decision.

“Committee” is a misnomer, they don’t sit around a table and discuss 20,000+ files. (Or application fees would be much larger than $75! on average). They do sit down to review the group selected for the very very very very very small number who earn scholarships (vs. grants related to financial need). Financial aid determination is made in group – determining whether to meet full need or not, and then how to determine the package. The results of the committee read determine how much is given. See some of my threads last year and read their webpage -they are blatantly up front - aid -merit or financial is driven by their desire to build a specific student body-- diverse, successful and leaders. There is NO money given to international students.

The accept decision may have been made…but no one rejects you until the file is complete - -so your midterm grades do get considered and all scores.

And again- no one really knows what all those codes mean but we do know that files for which the mid term grades aren’t needed are already accepted - but RD doesn’t get told until end of March.

Be warned-- as in years past- the decisions will trickle out for days with a huge number released on one single day - but there will be some that take as much as another week or so, and there’s no explanation for this whatsoever nor is there anything to be read into a delay. It seems largely a matter of technical or admin confusion that some files somehow don’t get released with the batch. So don’t worry if you are the last to hear-- it could be that way.
