Undergraduate admissions officer Daniel Creasy loves to use Twitter. Since his first post in on Oct. 22, 2008, Creasy has posted 1,312 times. Most of the time it relates to his job as an admissions officer and the application process. Occassionally, he delights his 351 followers with updates about his dog, television, sports, or his lunch. He also uses the microblogging service to communicate with his group of students who serve on the Student Admissions Advisory Board.

Creasys habit of writing on Twitter what he reads in applications is a bit troubling and unprofessional. They mostly focus on the unique applications unique in a bad way.

People are too sensitive. He still maintains 100% confidentiality. And most of the applications he talks about are extremely outlandish ones (who probably shouldn’t be applying to Hopkins in the first place). I think it’s cool that Hopkins admissions are getting with the 21st century. More schools should follow suit. The idea that admissions representatives are this mysterious group of people who do not relate to or connect with undergraduates and pre-frosh is a notion that needs to go away. They’re people too.

Honestly people have got to lighten up I agree. He is probably my favorite admission officer by far from any college? Know why? Because he is the only one I actually know!! JHU2013 is right, any adcom who has human qualities and doesn’t seem like a mysterious figure in the shadows is a plus by me.
