Has anybody got into long beach state yet (csulb)?

@jenksstudent… that’s pretty weird, i think you should call admissions office and ask if you should send them your transcripts… they asked me to send my transcripts through that “status” number about 3 months ago :S.

whaat. mine still says the same thing… wonder if i got rejected.

@ datwundude

you said "I called and asked when will transfers find out about the acceptance. the lady told me till or by may 1st  "

i’m sorry but i don’t understand what you’re saying. what is “till or by may 1st”?

may 1st?! i thought it was april 1st.

I just called them, they said they should give me my admission decision sometime late March early April. I’m stressing out, my other universities have yet to get back to me. On the other hand, csu lb have asked for pretty much every single high school document, heck they probably have enough information to steal my identity lol. I really hope i get in :S!

well i called the enrollment offices. i asked the lady “when will transfers find out about their admissions?” and she said may 1st. im not sure if she said “till” or “by” may 1st, meaning we might know ahead of time or not…not too sure caz all i heard was may 1st and i got mad.lol. im gona register at my CC for the fall just in case. haha

I also called today, and the lady I talked to said that they would be releasing admissions decisions from now until may 1st. So, by my understanding, by may 1st everyone should have a decision.

aww man…the wait is driving me crazy!

Admitted, as of last week (:

GPA: 3.86
SAT: 1760
SAT II’s: A. History-590, Lit-580
In State

Good luck everyone!

For those of you who called in to find out if you got in or not, did the message change? or did you have to talk to someone at the school to find out that you got in? The message still says that they’ve received my application and documents.

@livelovecheer are you in or out of state?

Well, the message changed from ‘…The initial review has been completed…more documents necessary…’ back to ‘We have received your application.’ I wonder if that’s good or bad :/

I’m in state

Has anyone or does anyone know of anyone that appealed the admission decision and won their appeal? I am nervous about not being accepted to CSULB. My stats are good enough, but I am out of state and they take their own first even when out of staters stats are higher.

Thanks.

@Nick10

yeah csulb, prefere in-state students, but apparently this year they’ll probably want more out-of-state or international students because of the budget crisis. If you think about it an in-state student will be paying about $5,000 - $8,000 tuition fees a year, whereas an out-of-state and international student will be student will be paying $20,000 - $30,000 per year. Hence, because their going bankrupt, they would want more money immediately, than waiting long-term to get money from californian residents (taxes).

I’m not %100 sure if their going to do that, but I’ve spoken to a bunch of people who said it might just happen, and it sounds very much plausible… Hopefully we’ll get in man!

I called and spoke with someone in admissions about that exactly and she said, first they accept CA residents, mainly LB area people first. I brought up the idea that if I were admitted they would get a lot more $ and wouldn’t give out of staters any financial aid, it would make sense to me that they do that to try to close up the gap, but she said no, they take care of their own first. No wonder the state is in the financial crisis they are in. I said, so you are telling me,you would take a B/B- resident paying 4K for tuition over an A non resident who will pay 10K more for tuition, at least? and she said “yes, we will”. I understand taking care of your own, but when your budget is in such dire straights, I would think they would take the better student who will pay more $$. However, tis not the case. My stats are good compared to many of the residents that are getting in and I am doubtful that I will get in. I have many AP classes and honors classes, not sure it will help though. It is CRAZY!

omg, that is crazy, i too have pretty good stats compared to the people getting in (except my sat sucked, but its still slightly higher than the avg kid in that school). I’m an international student so i’d be paying like double what an out of state student will be paying, taking IB, i’ve been predicted 38 points.
CSULB has also requested all my transcripts, my IGCSE certificate and residency information etc… so i thought I was looking pretty good… Sent all that stuff about 2 months ago, and haven’t heard back from them :S…

You’ll probably get in, especially if they ask for all that stuff. If I don’t get in, I won’t worry about it, it is not my number 1 school. I did get accepted to my Number 1, but it is very expensive, so LB was my back up. But the more I read about not getting classes, the budget crisis, it is probably for the best. Who knows. I just really like the campus, the students all seem so friendly and it is pretty cheap. Good luck to you. Keep us posted here.

hopefully man, haha, i’ve gotten into higher ranking colleges in the east coast, and likewise the fees are outrageous! But i’d prefer living in california, hence i really want to get into long beach :D!

I’m in-state and still haven’t heard back from them – about what stats are needed for an in-stater is needed?
