Has anybody recieved this?

A postcard from a student (that you do not know) not an adult or interviewer, congratulating you. If you got this I was wondering how would they have your address and information and such. And particularly why would they write to us haha

I got a few, non generic, emails from students.

It is ALL bribery.

They got your address and information because admissions gave it to them...they're most likely from students who work in admissions like as tour guides and they're writing them because admissions told them to, lol.

Lol... the admission officers are making these kids do it? :( how awful haha Why would the admissions want them to write to us?

Bribery... Higher yield.

Is it really bribery? haha man that sucks cuz the admission officers are making these kids hand write paragraphs constantly saying "welcome!" "congratulations etc."

it was thoughtful though haha (: put a smile on my face. the picture was pretttty.

I mean its all generic...generic letter are meant to sound personal. They write something that could cover everyone and fill in names. These kids ARE teens, no ones really going to write something personal to someone they don't know lol. Its called copy and paste.

Hm well I don't know how you can copy and paste someone's handwriting ...

Oh I thought it was an e-mail. Well hand writing doesn't really make it personal lol. After you do about 10, I would imagine they just start writing the same thing with different names as fast as they can. I mean be logical here

Yah I got one from some Andover student

Yeah I know, I dont think its personal at all its just they took the time to handwrite it so I was pretty impressed. I can imagine if you do 5 how tiring it must be. ):

Forget 5! They accept like 440 kids. They probably have 20 tour guides each doing 22!

wowwwwwwww man I just got word back and I heard its like a postcard-a-thon or something and your names on a list and they handwrite postcards... Its like a sweatshop (;

Ditto me too.

believe me we do not write 22 (like 3), and its all voluntary

making these kids

They don't 'make' them do them...it's voluntary or it's just part of being in the tour guide club at the school and something that everyone in it does.

one of my friends works in the exeter admission office... she is a student and she sorts the entries(athletics CDs, music CDs, art portfolios), she answers the phone occasionally and she has written to kids from my state(we live in the same city) to tell them about exeter. she worked at the library and said it really was the worst job ever... admissions is viewed as a "secretary" job.

are kids are Exeter required to do work jobs (I know kids are required to do jobs at NMH for example)? Or are these paid part time jobs?

According to the ebook it is optional, but a good way to buy stuff at the Grill (amazing)

I got one too, and I really appreciate Andover kids volunteering to contact me. Just emailed one, hope to get back a few answers for a few questions.
