Has anybody toured Loyola in Maryland?

Son is somewhat interested, but we haven't made it there. We ordered their video tape which was useless. Has anybody been there? Can you tell me what the campus what like? Thanks!

Yes, my D and I toured it last summer and liked it. The campus is relatively small (but then so is the school) pretty, not totally consistent architectural style but overall look is sort gothic, dorms really were great. Campus is about 6 miles from the Baltimore beltway, in a nice residential area, maybe 20 minutes to downtown Baltimore. Admissions committee presentation made my daughter keep it on her list and decide to come back when students are on campus (haven't yet but plan on going this month.) From what I have heard, students seem fairly homogeneous, many from Catholic high schools in the mid-Atlantic region. We talked to a few athletes who had great things to say about the professors.

It is a nice school. It is right next door to the College of Notre Dame, a small Catholic women's school and the downtown bus stops right in front of the school. I visited it with D and few years ago and she really liked it. I felt that it was a bit cramped but I had taken actuarial courses there many years ago when it did not have as many buildings on the campus and remembered it as that. I think the quality of education there is a step up from many of the small liberal arts type Catholic schools.

One nice thing about Loyola and the other colleges in the Baltimore area - students are allowed to take one course a semester at the other schools (including Johns Hopkins, Goucher, Towson, Maryland College of ARt) which opens some nice possibilities even at a smaller school. The other nice thing is that there is a free shuttle bus that goes from campus to campus, making it relatively easy to get around.

Thanks everybody! We'll probably visit if it looks like it is in the running after acceptances are made. It got "added" to the list late (based on counselor recommending for scholarship possibilities), but everything depends on how $ seems after acceptances are received. Must be nice to just "pick" a college and not have to look at the price tag, eh?
