has anyone actually gotten money from scholarships off of fastweb?

i would just like to know if anyone on CC (especially since there are some people here with outstanding stats) has actually recieved any moeny off scholarships found on fastweb even if its only $100. so far i have only applied to local scholarships provided by my guidance counselor but if there are alot of success stories from using fastweb then i will definitely put some time into looking through their database.

My three kids got a total of about $50,000 in scholarships (including one full tuition) but have never gotten anything from a scholarship found on fastweb. Maybe we were just unlucky. I also found it extremely annoying to spend all that time putting in your information only to have it "find" a scholarship for a female art major attending a southern school (for example) which they wouldn't qualify for. I would spend a lot of time sorting through their finds to get to the few they qualified for and then had them spent hours filling them out. Total waste of time. By the time I got to the last kid, we just used the ones the counseling department told us about.

I agree with boysmom. I got many, many scholarship hits that did not apply to my student. Very annoying...I slogged through it once and still get updates, but most are not matches for us. Maybe I did it incorrectly?

Man that really sucks. What kind of people give out money in local communities?

yea that is what i figured, i think i have a better shot at the local ones from my counselor and after looking at the obscene amount of scholarships that "matched" on fastweb i find it difficult to just spend so much time going through them all just to see if i qualify

I found two that fit me, that I felt like applying for. One, is actually a somewhat local one and I've been accepted though one more level before knowing if I got the money. The second one I won't find out until later, but I'm pretty confident. :)

I gave up on fastweb. Seems everytime they found a "match" for me ... they were wrong and didn't apply to me.

so how come everyone seems to advertise fastweb as the best thing since chicken soup when looking for scholarships if none of us have actually one anything or can even find any scholarships that apply to us?

I find fastweb really helpful, if you put the time in to sort through the scholarships and delete unrelated ones. Most are really competitive though, so I haven't gotten any money yet, but I keep hoping that eventually I'll win something. The problem with local scholarships in my area is that there is very few of them, I don't qualify for most and I live in a really densely populated and competitive area, so my chances for those aren't too great either.

i got a scholarship. a really good one too. i can't tell u what because i'm not supposed to yet, but it's a lot of money. so don't give up on fastweb!

I like fastweb, but if you won't go through and delete them, then it becomes this huge mass. I kept on getting a lot for college students who were enrolled at universities. Out of 99 I only qualified for 10.

I found an essay contest through fastweb and won $1000. The essay contest is the Holocaust Remembrance Project www.holocaust.hklaw.com
