Another acceptee to Harvard who got revoked is Gina Grant (Google her if you want the gory details). So, this girl clubbed her mom to death when she was 12, and then touted the fact that she's an orphan to get Harvard's attention. IMHO what she deserves is not college but a padded cell. I mean, all right, she was overabused when she committed the crime, but then she took advantage of her mom's death which was caused by no one but herself. How's that for morality?

packattack, they could've taken out gym when calculating gpa but because of her dissability blair was allowed to take an extra AP class

a kid at my school who got a D in a 2nd semester class received a warning from MIT, which he was successfully able to argue his way out of.

<bump>10char</bump>

Tarun, I mean every single school everywhere should take out gym classes when calculating GPA for every single student.

bouncechrissy:

in your post you described a kid who got their admission revoked to UCI because he/she received a D and an F in trig/precalc (1st and 2nd semester).

Do you think they would have revoked that student's admission if he had only gotten one D, and not the F?

I'm in a somewhat similar situation, only I forgot to tell UCI about one class that I took and got a D in (on the self reported academic section.)

Anyone else have any thoughts, and the chances of my admission being revoked?

have yiu asked UCI's adm yet? email them ASAP. UCI is good in replying email quickly if you go thru their web. you should have their link to send the message.

I know a kid who got rescinded from UCSD for getting a D. He ended up not going to college at all. I know of another kid who got rescinded from Yale for getting two Cs. I don't know what ultimately happened in that case.

im going to JMU, and these are probably going to my grades for the year: I got accepted with a 3.3 and 2080 SAT

AP Physics C D or D+
Ap Calc BC C or C+
AP Government C or C+
AP Psychology C+
English 12 B
Japanese 4 C or C+ or B
Weight Lifting B

Am I probably going to get revoked?

What changes do I have to make not to get revoked?

This is killing me because physics has been really hard for me this year since I had a horrible basic physics teacher last year who taught us nothing, literally.

this gets a bump

so i sent UCSD an e-mail regarding my AP Gov thing, and this is all their e-mail said:

Thank you for the email. We will update your file.

All the best

UCSD Undergraduate Admissions

and i tried logging in again to the admissions site and it still worked..so i'm assuming i should be all right?

What happened? That's a huge drop. I don't know how strict JMU is, but to be honest I think you have reason to be worried.

My friend's friend was accepted to UCSD, but had his admission revoked because he ended up slacking off during his senior year. In fact, he never got his high school diploma - it was that bad. Nevertheless, at the graduation, he pretended to graduate among his classmates (I don't know how he did that) and convinced his parents that he graduated. To this day, I think they still believe him. As for him, he went down to a CC in San Diego. Pretty sad, I know.

I do have a personal friend whose admission to UCLA was revoked. He was accepted to the School of Theater, Film, and Television. However, he ended up with one C in an AP class. He's at a CC right now.

Don't catch senioritis!

ucparent:

I did email UCI telling them my situation. All they said was "I cannot tell you how your admissions will be affected. However, upon receipt of official transcripts your admission will be subject to withdrawal."

Essentially, although I ordered for my official transcripts to be sent so that I could find out if they would revoke my admission before the May 1 deadline, they never received the transcript. So I am gonna have to file my SIR without knowing if my admissions will be rescinded or not.

Also: UCI takes about two weeks to get back to you. I don't know how you can say they are fast.

Coureur:

This pertains to the kid who got a D and had his admissions revoked from UCSD. Do you know if he had any other unsatisfactory grades, or was it just this one grade? Also, did he notify UCSD about the grade, or did he wait until they found out about it? Also, did he get a D in a class that was important to his major? (ie. a D in a calculus course when he applied as an engineering major)

Can they really do that? What would a student do that would make them revoke their decision?

Revocation of admissions generally only happens in extraordinary or extreme cases. I doubt it would have happened to Blair Hornstine had she not drawn so much attention to herself with her court case. She made herself a hated figure, and this in turn caused her dirty secrets to be revealed.

Generally however, your acceptance will only be revoked if you slack off to an extreme degree or if they discover that you lied on your application or forged your letters of recommendation.

tons of people got their admissions revoked from stanford because they hacked the website to see if they made it before the results were officially released.....something like 15 people.

a girl in my grade had a verbal contract with UVM for field hockey- they basically promised to accept her if she didn't get any C's in her first semester senior year- but she got a C and was rejected

from what i'm told...teh basic guideline is to try to maintain a 3.0 unweighted...as in, for every C you get, you should have an A to balance it. And yes, I have a close friend who got accepted to ucl a, slacked off, got a D senior year, and had to go to a cc. senioritis is okay, but don't let it get too bad...

I am totally worried now... I got a new AP Chem teacher for the last part of this year...and it's not going well...

First semester, I had an A in AP Chem.
My other first semester grades were:
AP Euro - A
AP Lit - A
AP CalcBC - B

But now like everyone is failing AP Chem and I'm not even slacking off and I have like 40% F, I'm so ****ed off...this teacher is so hard and I can't understand anything that's going on and I've been working non-stop because of theatre and my job this week and AP tests.... AUGHDNIVXRWDYQWWNDFEJ

So would I be rescinded IF my second semester grade was like a C or D? I mean that's a 3-4 letter grade drop!!! AUGHTHISISHORRIBLE.
My other grades will be:
AP Euro - A
AP Lit - B+ or A
AP CalcBC - B+ or A

I AM SO MAD. I'M NOT SLACKING - I'M WORKING. I HATE THIS.
