has anyone been accepted to a UC or CSU with a 2.5 from a CC?

im desperate hahahahaa :P

Should I take my chances and apply anyways?

what the hell do you have to lose, just waste between $60-240 this year, get rejected, raise your dismal GPA, and reapply next year.

I agree with anonymous on trying just for the hell of it but, Having that low of a GPA to even try for a UC (And your sig is UCSDhopeful) You wouldn’t be accepted. Try to bring it up as high as you can and, look into what requirements are needed to be accepted into the UC you want. For example, different schools have different cut off points for GPA minimum and, depending on your major that will vary. Unless you want to go to CSULA, wait it out.

If you are set on a UC than you probably need to bring your GPA up, but if you are willing you go to a CSU, I know my friend was accepted into Sonoma State with a 2.5.

For UCs, the minimum GPA requirement for California resident transfers is a 2.4 and is a 2.8 for nonresidents.

For CSUs, the minimum GPA requirement for California resident transfers is a 2.0 and is a 2.4 for nonresidents.

However, certain majors at different campuses do have their own additional requirements regarding GPA (as well as course work, of course). The above is just the bare minimum for acceptance to a campus within the UC or CSU system. So technically, you do have a chance at either school system as long as your major of choice does not have a higher GPA requirement or other requirements you do not meet. It’s up to you if you want to apply or not and I will make no judgment on the likelihood of admission or rejection.
