Wow, I got an acceptance today by e-mail as well. I'm so excited! I'm still waiting on 9 other schools, but I LOVE Oberlin and I am so glad! For those who are interested, I'm an international and I applied for financial aid. I still can't believe I'm in!!

it would be great if they were sending out answers now but I won't get my hopes up too high. Still, I bet my mom Oberlin would get back to me first (despite the fact that I applied to Michigan eons ago and am still waiting, lol)

Then every RD student should be getting their answers today right? Will the emails be coming in waves? Will a computer or human being send them? I would not be sleeping tonight and be watching my computer like a hawk!

Anyone else heard anything? Have all the decisions been made for every RD student? My inbox has stayed put today. I hope no bad karma for me (:

SkyGirl, it seems to be just international students. Kenyon did a similar thing, sending decisions via email to most international students.

SkyGirl, a number of LACs e-mail decisions to internationals, but send them through the mail for students in the U.S. I think Oberlin falls into this category. It's only international applicants who have posted so far. I checked last year's threads after reading your post and found students in the U.S. were waiting for letters to arrive. It looks like letters were mailed on March 27th here in the U.S. last year. I didn't look to see when international students were notified last year.

Thanks guys for the update. I am so nervous still. They have probably mailed the letters today too maybe. But the early write girl, Nothlihawk77, got an email last month. She posted this thread after 2 am. I am kinda worried about the R word u know since Oberlin is my top choice. (:

Letters to US applicants will not be mailed until the 24th at the earliest. Decisions are still being made.

I just came from my Oberlin visit, and it was amazing. :)

Dave is right. The admissions staff mentioned they have been cramming to make the rest of the decisions.

accepted - international

YEEAAA

congrats!

mind sharing ur stats and letting us know when they sent the email?

they sent it to me on saturday
umm nothing stellar i was kinda really surprised cuz im not an A student and i applied for fin aid..

i just got my email today! yay!!!

I'm crossing my fingers. Good luck everybody. I guess the only thing to do now is watch and wait.

Wow. I guess that means they're starting to email non-international students too?

yes, but they said that it was early because they wanted to invite me to an expense-paid trip to the campus. I'm sure acceptances will follow for all the rest very soon though!

Here's the letter:

Congratulations! You have been accepted to Oberlin College of Arts and Sciences, one of America’s truly distinctive liberal arts schools. Your official letter of acceptance will be sent via U.S. mail. You are part of a select group of outstanding students that has received their acceptance early in order to participate in a special program. We invite you to visit campus for one of our Multicultural Visit Programs, April 10-12 or April 17-19 2008 in order to help you get a sense of Oberlin’s vibrant and stimulating community. You have been selected to receive an all-expenses-paid visit that includes airfare, ground transportation, accommodations and meals.

To participate, you must be able to be absent from school on Thursday and Friday, of the MVP weekend. Included in the body of this email is a tentative schedule of the weekend.

An admissions counselor will be calling you early next week to confirm your availability. However, if you are ready to visit, complete the attached Statement of Financial Responsibility and fax it to me at 440.775.6905. Once I receive the fax, I will book your flight and email the flight itinerary to you. We need a reply from you regarding your availability to participate by Tuesday, March 25.
.
We are excited to have you join us for the multicultural weekend.

Sincerely,
Virginia

...and then it went on to show a tentative schedule of the weekend.

^I'm guessing you didn't go because I don't remember anyone there from California?

well the letter said it was on April 10-12 or April 17-19....so i haven't gone yet. you may be thinking of an earlier accepted students weekend? (did you apply ED?)

I thought April 10-12/ 17-19 was just the visit days for all admitted students? http://www.oberlin.edu/admissions/college/visits/events.shtml

Oberlin mailed their decisions yesterday, I think. I GOT IN!!!
