Has anyone been called for missing FA material. is this a bad sign.

suburbian,

thanks.. that is very reassuring... thanks so much.

i haven't submitted my 2004 tax returns yet...they are not done yet since my parents are self employed and have a late filing date than everyone else...but i assumed it wasn't "missing" persay since the financial aid booklet just says to send them asap and to my knowledge there's no real deadline...

My parents have done their 2004 tax yet, so I didn't submit them, but the Princeton FA office didn't notify me of any parts missing. Does this really mean that I haven't been accepted? My dad did use the income estimator...so maybe that is it.

This whole discussion is making very nervous. But I once you read the following (which I got from the Princeton website) I think things will be cleared up.

“Princeton requires verification of the income information you enter on your application, which is usually estimated at the time of submission. You will be asked for copies of your parents' 2004 federal income tax return(s) and W-2 (wage and tax) statements when they are available. We recommend that you provide these documents by March 15, 2005. If we receive the tax forms after making an initial offer of aid, your award may be adjusted based on the actual income and tax figures if they differ from the amounts estimated on the PFAA. Your own 2004 tax return may also be required. If you or your parents do not file an income tax return, an alternate source of income verification must be provided.”

Basically this is saying that when you submit your application you estimate your parent’s income, but later on (preferably by March 15) you should send your tax return to verify the estimation. If you don’t send your tax return before you are accepted, you can send you tax return in after you are accepted and they will adjust your financial aid offer. Princetonwannabe & Mcortex88, this is probably why the FA lady told ya’ll that your FA file was complete even though you were missing your tax return-it isn’t necessary to turn in tax return before acceptance so technically your file was complete.

i am soo nervous and confused right now...
and REALLY stupid when it comes to finances.

so i vill go to do ze yoga and say OM and lighty candles german style

princetonwannabe,

so the lady really said they only process fin aid for admitted students?
hm, how w3ird...
what would that mean ??
wishful thinking

what did she mean with "internal process"?

Majadito >> You lucky one. If I were you I wouldn't be concluding yet, but I'll definitely be raising my head u high. sigh

Janerdoo >> I received the same thing, but I don't think it means anything. (Anyone who received an email too?)

No college had contacted me yet regarding financial aid. Am I doomed to study in a university in our country? :(

Another thing: has anyone been contacted about their missing ITR forms?

thanx paradox...but im still not very optimistic about it...

whats ITR?

income tax returns i guess

well, does anyone else mind calling to check on the corelation between financial aid and admissions?

many schools appear to be quite strict about the fa deadlines while others do not. princeton appears to fall in the latter category. if you filed the pfaa, then you are probably o.k. as they will give you an estimated award with your acceptance letter at which point you will have to show them your completed tax returns. i seriously doubt that they will contact anyone for tax returns unless you are actually accepted, since it would be too much unnecessary work for them. of course, they suggest that you send in your return early enough for them to review it in case they are offering you an award package. the bottomline is that i don't think anyone has to get too worked up over fa at princeton unless you have not completed your pfaa (at least that is my impression.) i wish all the other colleges were as reasonable about the fa process as princeton. good luck to everyone reading this post!

i got an email from catherine l. bleach, assistant director, the same person who sent one to majadito. apparently i don't have ncustodial form in, and they say to send it asap. it sounds pretty urgent, and says that if i'd like to not be considered for faid, i should call them now. (lol yea right!) i like to think this is a good sign...but at the same time, i don't want to get my hopes up to high. and the rest of my eight schools haven't said anything...hope that means my files at other schools are complete.

i just got the same thing about FA in my mail.....my sister says it's a very good sign....since she heard that if you get this kind of letter like a week or 2 weeks before the decision date, it might mean that you are already accepted.....hmm hopefully it's a good sign.....

i guess it does depend on what you're missing...

according to some ppl, they think missing tax returns is not a big deal since princeton only sends out an estimate amount of aid along with the decision anyway.

I'm missing the Business/Farm Supplement... I'll just have to wait and see!

wait
im not so patiently waiting...
waiting sucks
i want to form a "waiting for admission decisions sucks" club.

aaaah. I don't remember whether I sent the 2004-05 non custodial parent form or 05-06...I hope I sent the correct one coz I havent been contacted about anything.

Also all my schools aare waitlisting me :( Itll be too cruel if that happens with Princeton too :(

so this thing means probably nothing??....o well haha

wow... theres one of these threads on the Princeton section as well. = O I didnt receive anything from P-ton... but hopefully it'll all be ok.... i did receive missing FA stuff from H yesterday though... a personalized one = O with my name and a list though. what do you guys tihnk?

p.s.: sorry if im posting this on the p-ton forum... when i postd this on the harvard forum, people went nuts and i don't want that.....

If the rumor is true (F.aid is an internal department that only has the records of admitted students) then I would say yes that is a very good sign. However there has been no real proof of this claim, so who knows. But I'm pretty sure that if you didn't get an email then it doesn't mean your automatically rejected.

On the 17th, I received an e-mail from Princeton exactly like some others have gotten on this post. Since I had started my finaid application online, it said, please complete and send this form or else you will not be considered for aid. I wrote them back since I sent my app by regular mail finally. Then they wrote back to me. They said, yes finally we have established that at this point, your financial aid file is complete. They ended the e-mail by telling me to have my parents send their tax return and bank statement by APRIL 15th. This is after the decisions will be received. Anyways, I don't know what to think about this whole thing now. Any ideas?

Thanks and best of luck to you all!

Sincerely,

Jean
