No, but it’s starting at many other colleges. (see the Parents forum)

Last year the first offers were made on Commencement Day which was May 8th. With so much chaos in Nashville due to flooding, I’d be surprised if offers were made prior to this and they might be even later in coming.

Does anyone know how many Vanderbilt traditionally has accepted off of the waitlist? I know they admit their class with the intent of accepting off of the waitlist, but I do not know the exact numbers. I’m assuming it is more then other schools though.

From last year’s Common Data Set:
https://virg.vanderbilt.edu/virgweb/CDSC.aspx?year=2009

The info is in section C2 from the link provided above.

As you can see, the number admitted from the waitlist is quite variable. I wouldn’t assume much of anything based on the history of the last three years:

2007—3
2008—202
2009—117

yes! :] about two weeks ago

they’ve admitted you already? i thought they were starting may 1…

what did you do to try to get off of the waitlist?

nothing… I emailed my counselor, asking him if there was anything I should do; send rec letters, a letter of appeal… anything

he told me I was already accepted and it was unnecessary to do so. I got the letter later that day.

I was on the waitlist for a bit under a week I believe…

BUT I am from California, and I truly believe they send out acceptances/rejections by location. My friend from Georgia, with a 4.0 hasn’t heard anything… not even waitlisted, just hasn’t heard anything.

Email your counselor! It couldn’t hurt, and more rec letters couldn’t hurt either. I was going to send in a letter of appeal too, and if this is your first choice, then the only risk is not doing enough… while a flood of letters might annoy the office of admissions, they can’t exactly reject you for showing them how great you are.

GOOD LUCK!

i’ve emailed, called twice, sent a letter, mailed in a rec, and i’m mailing in new grades this week. would it be okay if i called my admissions rep and asked him what the yield is looking like? or would that be obnoxious

You could call him and ask by when would you find out… and if he seems chill then go ahead and ask.

i would think that most counselors prefer email, but I could be wrong. Calling once won’t hurt you though, that’s definitely not obnoxious. After all, that’s what they’re there for!

falalafun, please tell your friend to contact Vandy TODAY … the decision should have been received by now. It’s possible something slipped through the cracks.

@ falalalafun:

Weren’t you accepted to Vanderbilt off the TRANSFER waitlist? Getting off the freshman waitlist is a completely different story, and is what the OP is asking about. I think it’s kinda deceitful that you didn’t clarify in your initial post that you got off the transfer waitlist rather than the freshman waitlist.

oh… you got off the TRANSFER waitlist?

that’s a whole different story, i was talking about freshmen waitlist

the time table for this is on the Vanderbilt admissions blog…hit google. Also if you look at the postings from last May-July, you will see last year’s timetable although if yield is up (or down) this year, numbers and timetable will alter of course. Every year things change somewhat.

good luck to all waitlisters who really want to be at Vanderbilt.

i just got a call from vandy admissions and was offered admission…tough choice between emory to whom i put a deposit and now vandy…i guess i hav a week from tomorrow to decide according to admissions

Sorry! I wasn’t trying to be deceitful… that was kind of rude @fmhcbc , I was just trying to help.

That really hurt my feelings :/
