Has anyone done/is anyone involved in research

If the only reason you want to do research is to put it on your college application, you’re going at this in the wrong way.
Besides, in regards to the “research with a professor” sentiment – it would be more likely that the professor would assign you to a graduate student (or perhaps a postdoc or undergrad, depends on the lab and how busy they are, I suppose), not work with you individually - they’d probably check up once a week/one every two to look at progress. If the professor is, say, an assistant professor (or one that became a professor recently… actually, I guess that depends too) then it would be more likely that they would have the time to personally work with you. Anyhow, the point I was trying to make was that the work you will be doing varies from lab to lab.
Also, what is the point of “doing research” if you’re not going to learn anything/do anything productive?

I really wanted to do reaearch in high school, but there were no opportunities nearby.

I did do some statistical work on an forum that played this popular game. One of the things it involves is figuring out who’s secretly one of the bad guys and then getting everyone else to vote them out. By analyzing the record of past games on the forum, I determined for good that a certain activity players were consistently getting players lynched for was not actually correlated with being one of the bad guys.

Use of the accusation has dropped a lot since then, and now whenever it is used, my study gets cited.

One of the secretly big reasons I want to become strong in statistics and computer science is so that I can do bigger, better studies of gameplay on that forum. >.>

I did full year social science research in 9th and 10th, possibly in 11th grade too. They were projects with professors local colleges in fields of linguistics and psychology  super fun + zero grunt work haha

are you allowed to submit a project to intel.siemens if you professor coauthored your paper?

Yes. If y’all would like letter or resume templates that I’m using for my science club, please pm with an email address so I can send them to you.

yeah i do research. i work with a postdoc because the professor of the lab is always busy.

By the way, do u guys know how to publish research? A few people who I have presented my research to have suggested it. Does anyone know of any online publications?

Well, just google “(insert field here) journals” , you should find some of the more popular journals. on their website, they should have a page where you can submit your paper. however, the process of getting your paper is VERY difficult…if you can, try and do it through a university professor/mentor

bumppppppppppppp

Yeah…so what I did was that I went though some cool engineering (EECS…My preferred major) tbs and invented a soil moisture controller…I sold my invention to an energy firm and made a bit of cash(200,000$ to be exact) , won an international award for my project and also got my idea taken and implemented in France…I feel proud to tell you guys that I have 100,000 users of my product too as of today(only in my state:D).

Sorry, what is tbs? and did you get any help/were you mentored by someone? it looks like you learned a lot about modesty as well

“it looks like you learned a lot about modesty as well”

Lol!

I not being modest…just honest ;)…tbs stands for text books…and nah I didn’t get any help from anyone. Nobody here really cares for anything other than ‘studies’ here!!
