can you tell me how to go about it and if its worth it. thanks.

You go to the school and ask the person if there are any seats available. You pay the expensive amount…not sure how much probably 80-90 bucks…then voila…you can take it. If no seat is available…yeah, then you can’t take it…can’t help you there.

Hey, I did just this past October, and it is super worth it I thought!
MAKE SURE YOU GO TO YOUR COLLEGE COUNSELOR TO GET THE SAT FORMS before you show up on test day!
If there is room available you need to have this paper work on hand, and it is 92$ to take it so pretty pricey, but it went off with out a hitch, got my scores the same time as everyone else. It was absolutely perfect.
If you decide to do it, it’s perfectly fine, not stressful at all.
:D

great advice so far. The key thing is also to get there SUPER early. My brother arrived at the test centre at 7.20am and already 9 people had been able to get stand-by testing. Usually, it shouldn’t be a problem :)

Can someone please explain to me, what exactly is ‘‘stand by testing’’? Like, what are the benefits? Regular vs. Standby?

Standby testing is when you didn’t register by Collegeboard’s deadline. The advantage well… I don’t know. I’ve never done it. The disadvantage would be that it’s a lot more expensive!

Almost always you’ll get a seat. The CollegeBoard prints extra tests tp suck from those procrastinators- for a fee.

Its $92; just go to the SAT site and register for standby and print out your confirmation. I believe you can register at the test center but I cant confirm.

In any case, if you registered for standby, you WILL get a seat.

I don’t think standby would be worth it if you didn’t prepare for the test. But for the record, my friend took standby testing and scored a 2300.

Get there early for standby. The school I tested at allowed quite a few standby in early on in the morning. The downside, when the regular testers showed up a little late (but not late enough to miss the start time), is the proctors ended up carrying desks in from other rooms. We were CRAMMED in, as was every other SAT I class. Not sure about the subject testers. They tested in a whole different section of the building.

As far as worth it, that’s up to you. I would’ve preferred standby, I could have gauged how I felt the week before if I was ready. Registering over a month in advance made me feel like I wasn’t prepared. I was VERY anxious for that whole month. I am not allowed to test standby, or change my test date due to my age. If I could have, I would have.
