I have yet to get an award letter. I plan on calling tomorrow to make sure because I did send in some papers late. Anyone else in a similar situation?

I haven’t received my fin aid yet and I’m an ED applicant

same here. i called two days ago and they said that they were sending it wednesday. i sent the actual copy of my taxes march 1. i checked the mail today and i did not get it yet. hopefully it will come tomorrow. I live in Brooklyn NY by the way.

Ah ok. It’s nice that i’m not the only one. I need to make a couple decisions and the finaid will cement my choice. I dont think they could send it any later than next week right?

I still haven’t sent in my tax return form. Probably explains why I haven’t received my financial aid yet…

I haven’t received it, but mainly because I’ve a few things missing. Sent it to them 2 days ago, hoping my award will come soon.

I just checked my FInAid status online and it said I was missing 2011-2012 Verification Worksheet for Dependent Students. I’m gonna upload it to the website tonight (https://www.finaid.cornell.edu/submit-documents). Hopefully, the letter will come soon afterward.

How do you check your financial aid status online?

I sent in my parent’s tax return like, April 1st and I got my finaid stuff within two weeks of that. I’d check online to make sure you have everything and, if you do, call them and verify.

I can’t check FA online anymore, why is that? I might call Cornell tomorrow

I also hadn’t received it yet. I’ve been emailing back and forth with financial aid and trying to send additional paperwork in. I’m also going to call tomorrow. Hopefully I can get this settled soon…

In the same situation!

We sent our Financial aid in really late (about a week or 2 ago), but we got our letter 6 days after we sent it in.

All you need to is call them and pretend you’re really mad and ask to talk to their supervisor (or the person in charge of FA for Undergrads). Well, that’s what my dad did and it worked.

@sxeYustas- Interesting…I’m also from CT, which part are you from??

Edit: Never mind. Just realized who you are, and it seems I’ve been commenting on your posts for a while without knowing who you were.

It says the last time I’ve commented on your thread was last year when I wrote"International applicants are much more competitive (harder to get in as an International student). With what you have provided, I would say your chances of getting in are low. Extracirriculars are nothing spectacular, SAT scores are below average. GPA is not given and class rank is decent. "

Guess I was pretty darn wrong about my prediction haha.

Also, you gonna come to the Banquet this year?

I called, and they said they would get it to me before May 1st.

I’ll be calling Cornell FinAid office soon. - I’ll report here after ^^

lol @ WongTongTong, haha, I guess I was able to beef up my resume + essays

No, I won’t come to the banquet. I didn’t go last year and this year I’ll have a game on that day. You?

So I called them, and the lady told me that my FinAid estimate from 2010 was very accurate and I will be receiving the exact amount of money specified in the FinAid letter we (ED’ers) received back in February.

The only thing I have to wait for now is the bursar bill - that’s where they will show how and when to pay your bills.

Btw, does anyone know what meal plan is included in the FinAid (7,10, or 14?)? Links please.

For 2011-2012 here are the numbers financial aid uses:
Tuition (arts and sciences, the non NY state endowed colleges) 41,541
Housing (I think this is a double) 7,800
Dining 5,354
books 800
personal expenses 1,630
Total 57,125

These numbers are for FALL and SPRING semesters together - obviously tuition will be lower for the CALS, etc. Hope this helps…

Son got his financial aid today because we sent in our documents really late. We are happy with the financial aid. But I have a question about Health Savings Account contribution amount. Looks like Cornell considers that also as an available income. Is that the standard way to treat the HSA contribution? I couldn’t find that info anywhere.

^ Did you receive your financial aid by mail? I’m still waiting for mine

captrick, they scanned the document that they are sending via mail and sent it to my son’s e-mail address.
