Has anyone else received the letters from the UC's that guarantee admission? I received this week 3 letters that guarantee my admission to UC Irvine, UC Davis and UC Riverside.
Has anyone else received these?

Yup.
I don't think I got Irvine's though.
I got Davis, Santa Barbara, and Riverside, haha.

You get it if you were qualified for ELC, which is basically just being ranked in the top 4% at your school.

It's kinda cool...takes the pressure off! :)

Ever heard of Shared Experience? UC Merced doesn't advertise it, but....it goes like this. If you apply to UCLA, UCBerkeley and don't get in, they might offer you a option of going to UC Merced for two years, and transfering. Merced told me that they don't initiate it, and every year they aren't sure which UCs will offer it, but obviously it is the hardest to get into, those two and maybe one more.

what happens if your school doesnt rank?

Yup I got them. (Irvine, Santa Barbara, Davis, and Riverside)
UCI came in today Catalysis, so you might want to check it.

st. aegis: I don't think it matters if your school ranks or not because your school will send the info of the best of the bunch from your grade to the UC. The UC will then calculate your GPA and see which of the students are the top 4% (my school).

Hmm, interesting. I haven't heard of shared experience. But I do know people who went to Merced because it has a really good transfer program (don't know for sure, but that's what I've heard).

I would rather go to SMC for two years and transfer to UCLA/Berkeley (which is very easy and cheaper) than go to one of the lower schools (except for San Diego).

I got one from Merced.
