What the topic says. I was just curious if anyone has been...

anyone know the answer?

It may be awhile before you find someone who qualifies to answer. In the past few years they’ve been enrolling about 20-30 transfers a year, per the CDS. Pretty small pool.

Eg, in 2013 they admitted 33 of 1633 transfer applicants, of whom 28 enrolled.

@celesteroberts Thanks for replying! I know that the pools are really low, and I do understand the the lack of responses. However, I just want to keep bumping the thread in case someone does know the answer!

You seem to be focusing on your denial (presume this year) but that really isn’t a problem. The problem is the very, very high level of competitiveness in general to transfer in given the limited number of spots available. Acceptance rate similar to/worse than HS to frosh.

If you plan on continuing your education after undergrad there is always graduate school. I was rejected 4 years ago and this fall I will be to Stanford to pursue my PhD. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses! @11bawb and @Orimsz. I’m actually applying for transfer this year and I am just freaking out lol. My stats are as follows:

Academic:

California CC since I was age 14 (currently 18)
college GPA 3.98 first B the semester I applied
SAT 2090 (I know thats bad…)
SAT subject scores (800 Math Level 2, 800 Chemistry, 760 Biology M)
HS GPA 4.85 (includes CC courses)

EC:
intern at a biotech company that was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal (was selected to stay on during the school year after working hard during summer)
founder and head of high school’s debate team (currently the school’s coach)
went to the Tournament of Champions in Public Forum
received a total of 14 debate awards
founded (and still president of) of a tutoring organization helping 43 underprivileged children
assistant coach for middle school Synopsys science fair. All teams I worked with received awards.
intern in the Shumway Surgical Skills Internship at Stanford Medical School. Developed a device to occlude ASDs (holes in hearts) and performed mock coronary artery bypass and mitral valve insertion
intern in the Surgical Anatomy Course at Stanford Medical School. Practiced suturing, explored medicine through cadavers, gave presentations regarding various ailments, and learned a LOT of anatomy.

Recs:
Vice President of biotech firm (told me that I was one of the best interns he came across in the past 25 years)
High School GC (probably good)
math/physics professor (he is the proctor for the AMATYC - I placed in the top five twice. In addition, I took Physics 4A and 4B together as he believed I could handle it - topped both classes)
chemistry professor (knew me since I was 14 - I built a spectrophotometer using a diffraction grating and a cereal box for an honors project in his course)

@Orimsz Congrats!

@Sharingan100 , what do you plan on majoring in and doing after undergrad? Based on your profile I would assume Biology or some sort of pre-med to then jump into Medical School.

Transferring to Stanford (or any other schools such as MIT, UCLA, etc., based on your posts) is a crap shot. I did my undergrad at a state institution and everything worked out the best in the end!

Good luck!

haha sharingan he said UCLA is a “crap shot” for you. didnt you just get admitted to cal and UCLA lol so many haters on this site

@lamelcriada lol yeah the funny thing is that he checked my replies and then posted that comment… by that time I had already gotten into UCLA lol. Anyways he is right though… admissions are a crap shoot.

bump

To answer your question…several years ago a friend’s son was denied admission as a freshman and admitted as a junior transfer from Tufts. Had a great two years, so I know it can happen. Obviously, the best scenario is being happy at your first college, but you can transfer if need be.
