Has anyone ever been given a full ride scholarship at NYU?

I got like 75% in merit aid, and pretty average scores.

Would those of you who received scholarships mind posting your stats? I’d love some insight as to who is getting the scholarship money and what kind of stats they are looking for. Thanks so much!

@nancyvh‌
SAT: 1810 (yes, the score is rather low, and this was the third time I took it)
GPA: 4.0 (don’t know how high the weighted GPA is)

I applied for Tisch Film, and was placed in the Liberal Studies Core Program for a year, at which point I’ll have a guaranteed spot in Tisch Film come sophomore year.

My scholarship is a $34,570 Liberal Studies Scholarship, which will be renewable for all 4 years even when I’m at Tisch. Also, I’ll be taking mandatory summer classes for Tisch in the summer 2015, and I’ll receive an extra 1/3 of the scholarship (~$11,523) for that summer term.

It’s an incredible deal, and a lot more than I received from other schools, so I can only guess that they really liked the video I submitted in my application to Tisch.

@tselle , Wow! That is an incredible scholarship!! Congratulations!!! Thanks for you for sharing your stats.

I got full ride tuition (merit) with a 2210 SAT, 94 GPA, 2 years worth of college chem at harvard and a letter of rec from the head of the chem department there. Also hispanic if that counts.

Why do you think you were accepted/rejected? My supplement essay really showed how I would blend in into the NYU communitynd. I’ll have to call/mail them and try to work a better deal.

I got accepted to CAS NYU but still considering if I should go. they offer me $54000 on what is call CAS scholarship. my parent will have to pay appox. $12500-$17500 each year for me. it is a huge number for them. i will have to take out a bunch of loans NYU offer if i decided to go there. my SAT is 2240 and GPA 4.23 weighted on a very competitive course. i also got accepted to UCSD arts and science honors program with almost a full ride. i am torn. NYU vs UCSD, may i know what you guys think?

thank you.

UCSD, it will not put stress on you or you parents and it is a fantastic school.

What scholarship was it? I’m also from Florida and want to go to NYU

It’s our family’s experience that NYU gave great financial aid. For my daughter, she received all tuition, room and board for all four years. We still pay for living expenses and since her first year is in London it hasn’t been INEXPENSIVE. Additionally, she received a $4000 scholarship for Global Studies that gave her a bit of spending money.

@tselle hey I know this is very random but NYU is my dream school but I cannot afford it. I see that we have very similar stats. I have a 4.0 GPA & an 1850 SAT score. I am also a national hispanic recognition program semifinalist. I am applying to CAS though. does that make a difference? could you tell me more about the aid/scholarships u got and about any loans u had to take out? thanks

I received more than full tuition ($55,000) in scholarship but still have to take loans for housing, food, etc. Still, that’s way better than I expected!

What kind of stats did you have for applying? I love NYU but the cost is crazy hahah

Really? Sorry its 2017 now but if you are still here, please answer me. I am international and I am 15. NYU is my dream school but everyone tells me that its only for wealthy students. I am so depressed. Please help me :((

@jojovn sorry but for international students, that statement is kind of true. NYU is need-aware so if you apply for financial aid, you have a lower chance of getting in. Not to mention unless your stats are way above NYU, (like, if you could have gotten into a top 10 school but applied here instead) they won’t give money to international students, and we don’t qualify for federal aid obviously so many international students are full-pay.

what is the name of the program and how do you apply for it

@giantsfan0408 what is the name of the program and how did you apply for it

Unless you are very fortunate, you will leave NYU with a sizeable student loan debt, especially if you are high need. I worked with a few students in this category who got into NYC and Columbia/Barnard. NYU still made them take subsidized and unsubsidized loans, whereas Columbia offered them virtually full rides. Just bear this in mind if you need significant financial aid.

@Emtou2u If you don’t mind me asking, what was her situation like? (Financially, what were her scores on the sat/act, her GPA, her field of interest, etc.) I’ve wanted to attend this school for years now and I know my parents and I cannot afford all of the costs. If I do go here, I’d need a scholarship.

My friend ws given full ride to NYU Stern (main reason he chose it over Wharton, PENN and Dyson, Cornell)
