Has anyone every heard of a student with a gpa under 3.4 getting into uva?

Im a junior in high school and im looking at colleges. im african american and a virginia resident. uva is my dream school but i doubt I have the stats to get in. have you ever heard of someone getting into uva with a gpa on the lower end? also what other virginia colleges should I look at?

According to collegeboard, 4% of admitted students had GPA < 3.5. Work hard to get your GPA up and study for SAT. About 100 students had a GPA similar to yours though so be one of those!

Here is the list of public colleges in VA: [Public Colleges & Universities Authorized to Operate in Virginia](http://www.schev.edu/students/PublicCollegeList.asp)

Keep in mind that students with much lower stats are likely “hooked” (such as recruited athletes).

^Yeah, most of those kids likely had something going for them other than grades. What kind of school do you go to? From a rigorous, in-state school with good UVA relations, it may not be impossible, especially as a URM.
