Has anyone experienced the sophomore slump?

It just may be that my high school is ridiculously hard. I have 4 A's 2 B's and I'm used to sleeping in all my classes with 97 averages.

no offense, but if you’re having trouble as a SOPH…well get prepared for junior year and then senioritis

Junior year should be really easy. I got stuck with lame teachers and I just looked at my classes the junior year classes are mostly going to be easier than my soph classes.

Slump hit me early; I was actually struggling in freshman year.
After that, though, sophomore year and junior year were awesome.

… the fact that you’re used to sleeping in classes probably explain your slump. You need to get a better attitude about your classes if you want straight As going into the harder years of high school. Respect your teachers, listen up, do all your homework, and act like your classes mean something to you.

I don’t sleep in classes that are hard.

What classes do you have Bs in?
You could use the time that you normally use to sleep in the other classes do study up for the harder classes.

AP chem (never taken chem before)
H Math Analysis/AP Calc A

I think it’s less of a slump everyone experiences, and more of maturity/determination/study habits vs. class rigor.

I for one had no maturity/determination/study habits fresh/soph year. Others might be the exact opposite.

Actually, that happened to me. My average dropped 2 points the first two quarters of sophomore year. I think it’s sort of like when I woke up and a actually realized I had to do stuff, because after that my grades went up and have been good since.

I struggled freshman year and progressively did better. Though I wish I’d tried harder freshman year, I am happy that my grades have an upward trend.

sophomore year is definitely the worst year of HS.
don’t worry, it will get better ! :)

I’m a sophomore too, the workload isn’t too bad as of right now.
Junior year is going to be terrible, though…5 APs, hooray.

That’s called laziness.

Definitely hit me for a bit, you just have to mentally tell yourself to get your butt on track. Or else

I’m doing better this term than last year. I have 3 As, 2 A-'s, and 1 C.

I was a sophomore last year, but I didn’t experience this “slump” you speak of. In fact, I found sophomore year easier and less stressful than freshman year.

I’ve had a slump every year of high school. Junior and sophomore were the worst.

I actually found sophomore year harder than junior year, probably because it was the first time I had classes I really had to work for. Which is what you’re going through as well. AP chem is pretty difficult without any previous chem experience; you’re just going have to get motivated, maybe even ask teachers for help, do extra reading, more problems, etc. I don’t know what your motivation is going to be- grades, parents, college, whatever, just find some. It’s good practice for junior year anyway.

I was doing awesome for first quarter and a little of second quarter, but the week before break I got a couple B’s in subjects I usually get A’s in.
