just curious, how was it?

CI was amazing. I just got back today and I loved every day of it!!! I would seriously have stayed if I could...

timmer, could you share with us exactly what happened over the 3 days? We are bringing out son on Friday and he starts on Sat. and then he is flying home. Was there anything for the parents to do or did they just drop you off? What did you do over the course of the 3 days? Thanks!! I think many of us are curious....

So Day 1 for the students is pretty much just a bunch of meet and greets with the Cabinet and other students. You get to see the dorms and have this great dinner. the students and parents are together a lot on Day 1 but not much on the other 2 days.

Day 2 is focused a lot on the individual schools. I am in Elliot and I met my dean and had close talks with my advisors. Parents had a bunch of info sessions about every topic that anyone would really want to know. I found the "what's the deal at GW" sessions for the students to be very repetative but VERY informative.

Finally, day 3 has an organization fair for students and I highly advise going to that. So much info in just 3 days... Parents get quite the workout too with a bunch of events and activities.

Oh yea, be sure to do the CI at night, I enjoyed that the most of all events. You can tour monuments, go to Georgetown, or walk Dupont Circle. There is a little something both parents and students. It was a great time overall.

oh and if you want a schedule, there is one on the CI website with all the dates and times.

oh and if you want a schedule, there is one on the CI website with all the dates and times. Hope this was kinda informative for you!

Timmer, thanks a lot, that really helped us. Did you find that most parents stayed? I was thinking they organize things for the parents as a courtesy to those who end up staying, but I thought most do not go...in fact the few my son knows actually are going down on their own without parents, would love to hear what you observed. Thanks!!

Plenty of parents there. I think there was a fee for parents. However, there were PLENTY of kids there alone. To be honest, I barely saw my mom while I was there so I really don't know how much the parents got to do.

Overall, i would say it was about 50/50 with parents staying or not

I just wanted to add how much my daughter enjoyed CI as well this past weekend. She came back very happy with her decision to go to GW and feeling much better prepared for the fall. I learned a lot from a parent's perspective, but about 1 1/2 days would have been enough for me.

im going to the one in the first week of July, but i need to go down a day early because it takes me a while to get to DC. can i check in early and get a room at GW or do i have to elsewhere for the night?

Any compelling reason to bring a laptop to CI? Any compelling reason not to? Is there internet access?

when went to CI 1 a couple weeks ago there were ppl who checked in the night before.

I brought my laptop and didn't use it one time! There is no need for one at CI and personally, I didn't have time to check my email or anything because of all the stuff at CI.

Hope this helps!

You could take your laptop but I bet you won't use it once. Like Timmer224 said, too much to do to check your facebook.
