Has anyone gone to the free campus tours?

If so, what did you guys look over? Just a couple or buildings and whatnot, or does it get more specific, like letting you see the dorm rooms and cafeterias and such?

Thanks in advance.

I went on one two years ago… it was okay. They just showed off the buildings/libraries while spouting some facts. I don’t think it was really anything I couldn’t have found out by reading about Berkeley. It’s still nice to check out the campus though.

I’m assuming Cal Day will cover a lot more.

Yea. im assuming cal day would be better

i second what everyone else said.
they started off at the main gate, and took us around the central part of campus, and ended in sproul plaza. we went through the biology building, saw a giant t-rex, walked through the chem lecture hall… and basically that’s it.

it was great to get a general feel for the campus so it was much easier to cross off the other UCs on my list :]

I went about 2 months ago and the tour was ok. We definitely covered most parts of campus, but the whole tour seemed to focus on how amazing the libraries are. If you want a more detailed tour, either find a current student who is willing to show you around or do the overnight host program. I’m doing the OHP next week because I have a lot of specific questions about the college I was accepted to!

ohp was nice cause u can talk to students.

Cal day, OHP or OSP let you see the dorms and a more detailed look around.

Tour is excellent for giving you that feel for the school and whether you would want to attend. It can quickly turn a lukewarm or negative leaning visitor into a eager fan (or I guess the other way if the vibe is wrong for you).

To anyone who did the OHP thingy:

How did they match you with an overnight host? Was it random, or did they match up by college/major?

I’d be the best host ever. I’d just be like…run free my young padawan. and then lock you out from coming into my dorm. hehe

The tour guy didn’t know anything about American Government. He was a senior. Not a good sign.

They didn’t take you to the dorms

Was he supposed to be a specialist in American Gov?

And lmao @ Batman.

The only tour of the campus I got was from my CalSO counselor who showed me some of the cooler things like the whisper bench, the little hole that is not part of the US, and 4.0 hill.
