On my commonapp, theres a line where i have to tick whether i'd need a merit-scholarship to attend CMU, and I ticked yes. Does that mean I might get some kind of aid in my packet from CMU?

Oh, and im an internatl btw.....and it says that internationals have to pay the full tuition fees, so im really confused...

Carnegie Mellon does not provide need-based financial assistance to international students. As an international student would you require a merit scholarship?

Im an international who asked for a merit scholarship too. I would like to help but my admission decision letter STILL hasnt reached me :( It should reach by the end of this week (according to the admissions office)
Whatever the website says, I think there should be some sort of award for us. Just hope and Ill let you know as soon as I get the fat letter!

They post the financial aid info online in the "where am i in the process." haha, i just saw it today. I didn't get any merit scholarship, though I'm sure they give them (my cousin got one a few years ago when he applied). I got a large grant though which now makes carnegie mellon attend-able for me. I'm sure without merit aid you'd get a good amount of money (excluding loans that have to be repaid) though.

thing is that CMU doesnt give aid to international students. Question is if they give merit scholarships to us internationals cos the situation seems really unclear................................STILL NO FAT LETTER!!!

maybe you guys can call them and ask if they will tell you personally? I mean you could tell them you need to know soon to make a decision on which school to attend and you have no idea when your package will arrive?

Already did........they said it should reach by the end of the week otherwise theyd fax it. Its just annoying cos everyone else has got theirs haha...........

I think Merit Scholarships and financial aid are starting to come in now. I just got a $2300 Presidential Scholarship. Apparently last year’s average Presidential Scholarship was $6000. My amount is rather insignificant out of the $50000+ cost of attendance, but I guess it’s better than nothing.
