Pitzer is my first choice. I applied EA and got deffered. anyone else?

i got deffered as well, but i withdrew my app already.
hopefully youll get in since the letter said that about 1/2(if i remember correctly) of the deffered EA kids got in last year

i got accepted, which was surprising considering I have a lower GPA than the people I know who got defered.

congratulations. are you going? whats your gpa?

i have no idea if I am going. depends on where else I get in. I have a 3.3 UW and 2100 on the SATs

i applied regular decision, but i havent heard yet. do you know when we are supposed to hear, and if we can check online? or only by mail?

I did rd too and I am quite anxious. I really hope to hear soon.

i got in EA... i am pretty excited. i actually know pretty little about the school... is there anything that people can share?

I got in EA. I thought I was supposed to hear in January, but they told me in mid-December. It is one of my top choices.

the letters are out. I got my waitlist notice today

Me too, elvenquen10. I'm hoping it's Tufts syndrome, since my stats were well above the average.

Tufts syndrome?

I didn't get my letter, but i'm in the midwest. Eeeek tomorrow!

Tufts syndrome is when a school rejects a student for whom the school is obviously a safety. Tufts does this a lot, hence "Tufts syndrome." Schools like Tufts and Pitzer get used as safetys a lot, and they probably get tired of having high admittance rates, only to have very few admitted students actually attend.

aaaah thanks.

I got in. I honestly didn't think I would get in. I got waitlisted from Occidental and into Redlands.

good letters of rec.

My counselor hates me because I gave her my forms for five schools two days before school got out for winter break. haha due january 1. oops.

I really don't know how i got in. Good luck on everyone that didn't.

What is everyone's stats?

Good that is reassuring. I have similar gpa to you in similar courseload and good test scores.

So you were in oddyssey of the mind! I totally rocked that **** back in elementary school. 1st regional and state and 6th in world in orlando florida when i was in fourth grade. They took away OM and replaced it with destination imagination around here (weak).

Anyways, way to go!

Awesome. I'm actually heading up to Sacramento this Friday for state. I've never been to world, though. This is my third time up at state, hopefully we'll get it right this time. My school wanted to open up destination imagination but we decided it was for little kids, haha. Odyssey IS pretty childish, but it's still fun. haha.

I was really excited when my interviewer called and said I got accepted. My GPA wasn't high and my SAT scores were pretty low too...but I ended up getting their highest merit scholarship (5k per year). I think the school really read my essays, looked at my portfolio, and my short film and saw me as a person and not a number. So I'm excited about that.

GPA 3.3 unweighted, SAT 1630
4 AP classes
president-gay straight alliance
editor-in-chief-yearbook
lots and lots of leadership, activism, and extracurriculars

-What I think also helped was my academic improvement throughout highschool. I had a 2.8 freshman year and a 4.2 first semester of senior year.

I was deferred EA and got in RD today! I'm very happy.

I don't want this to come off bad and all the people who didn't get in have my symathy (we all get rejected sooner or later) but has Pitzer raised its admissions standards? I always thought it was a pretty lackluster school. Although I really do like the hippy thing, I really had my heart set on CMC and pomona (WL at CMC, R at Po). I kind of used Pitzer as a claremont safety (although it was one of my first choices a couple of years ago) but if its really becoming a more academic school, I might really be into it. Does anybody know?
