Hi,
I intend to apply to Stern, most probably ED. Although I'm worried because I don't have a GPA.

My school currently has its own method of issuing reports and marks. It's based on a letter mark and a number mark up to 7.
Since the school is an I.B school, the reports are out of 42, with it being practically impossible for anyone to achieve 7's because the number mark reflects where we are now, and most students aren't at a 7 level.

How will schools look at me because I don't have a cumulative GPA? Will they take into consideration my schools unique grading system?

Has anyone applied to Stern in the same situation and got in?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I took the IB Diploma as well and to be honest I don’t think NYU Stern cared about what my IB predicted scores are, they just cared about my letter grades in those respective classes…

In your case where your GPA/marking system is vague and different, your SAT score will obviously carry much more weight than a typical applicant since that is the only standardized system they can use to compare you to other similar applicants…

Aim for a 1450+/1600 and a couple leadership positions (considering ur GPA/marking system is above par) and you’ll be fine

Thanks for the response, it’s good hearing from someone who has gone through the application process! You make a good point about the SAT, which I’m taking in October, you just gave me a bit more incentive to keep studying hard.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did u get predicted?

In your opinion, do you think the admissions officer might potentially misinterpret my schools different marking system?
