Has anyone got their letter yet?

For certain schools, the letters are supposed to be rolling starting Feb1. I was just curious if anyone has received their acceptance or rejection letter from Cornell yet? I think i'm overanalyzing this...trying to think about if it comes early, is that good or bad; is later better; etc. Okay thanks.

idk i haven't gotten anything yet

I heard they start coming out mid Feb. around President's Day...

and the site that tracks your materials isn't even up and running yet.

wth? Cornell is already done with the apps and sending out decisions?!

^not done, but some have probably been made. this rolling admissions is just for the cornell contract colleges. im not sure of all of them but I know ILR is one of them.

Hey guys- You can check your application status now. I think they finished sorting out app stuff. Yay. This makes my heart beat beat beat.

cornell abides by the ivy joint statement - meaning it releases decisions only twice (once in dec and once in late march/.early april) and on the same dates as the other ivies.

anth- that ain't so. ILR, CALS, and Hotel can and does release some admission decisions prior to 4/1. My only educated guess why those 3 schools do not have to follow the Ivy Joint statement, is because there may not be a comparable program in the Ivy League--(but that is just a guess on my part).
MOST OF YOU WILL NOT HEAR ANYTHING UNTIL ON OR AROUND 4/1. The best thing to do is to forget that Cornell will begin to release Admission info in mid to late February for ILR--Hotel and CALS.
Those who follow these boards will know when Decisions have been released.

marny, isn't CALS contract ?

no, CALS is not contract.

CALS is contract... Hotel is the one that isn't contract.

Undergrad Endowed
Hotel
CAS
Engineering
AAP

Undergrad Contract
ILR
CALS
Human Ecology

What exactly does that mean, aside from the fact that in-state students get a big tuition break in the contract schools? Is it a reflection on selectivity? Does it mean that those schools must admit a certain percentage from in-state? Thanks for explaining.

@ worrywart, I just think it means that the state funds these colleges. Nevertheless, CALS I believe remains one of top in it's field.

The rolling decisions have nothing to do if the college is endowed or state contract. (I will never quite understand the difference-nor do I care-- but as a NY mom with a kid in ILR- I know we save some bucks. Though seriously it really does have something to do with the Morrell Land Grant Act of 1860 something- As there was no NY State University at that time, the land grant colleges in NY state were awarded to Cornell!!) Every state in the union has land grant institutions and NY's is "housed" at Cornell.
As Hotel has "rolling decisions" and it is definitely not an endowed college, that is the reason why I am guessing that these three colleges have no counterpart at any other IVY and therefore can release decsions prior to 4/1. It is just a logical guess on my part.

wat schools within cornell are ivy league? is it just cas?

theyre all considered ivy league bc theyre a part of cornell. the ivy league is just a sports league...

Ya IVY League IS a name for a sports league.

Wikipedia has good background information
