@Akberkely
haha lets pray.
i really want regents since we probably will not have achievement award this year:(

I haven’t gotten anything yet either…

me neither… do they only notify recipients, or do the “rejects” get a notification too?

On myfao they only notify those who have received regents. But i think I remember reading somewhere that they send out an email or a letter to everybody who applied telling them if they received regents or not. I’m not entirely sure though.

I believe they send you a letter even if you did not win the scholarship… As some of people may have gotten my message few days ago, the office said they will finish the process by today or next Monday… So, Let’s wait few more days! :)

Heads up Wharton. Did you call?

yeah I called the office this Monday.

So? Are they out?

YESSSSS! Got it!

^Congrats! : ) I have a question: were you notified by a postal mail? or you checked at my FAO??

Hopefully they notify you even if you did not win.

I was sent an email with the following:

Dear Student,

“The Financial Aid Office has received your FAFSA application and prepared an electronic Provisional Award Letter (ePAL) that estimates your eligibility for financial aid for the upcoming academic year. The ePAL is strictly an estimate and is subject to change. You may access your ePAL along with “The Guide to Your ePAL” by visiting the Financial Aid Office homepage at [UCLA Financial Aid Office | CAL GRANTS | LOANS | WORK STUDY | SCHOLARSHIP | PELL GRANTS](http://www.fao.ucla.edu) and clicking on the MYFAO button.”

Then upon signing in I was greeted by a congratulations letter.
"Dear [Hammerchop],

On behalf of the University of California and the UC Board of Regents, I am extremely pleased to offer you a four-year Regents Scholarship to UCLA. The Regents Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship for incoming UC freshmen, and the highest honor the Board of Regents can bestow upon a student at the University.

Of the record 72,644 students who applied for admission to UCLA for academic year 2012-2013, only a very small number were invited to compete for the Regents Scholarship. UCLA’s Academic Senate Committee on Honors, Awards, and Prizes has selected you on the basis of your outstanding academic achievement and your demonstrated leadership ability. It is evident that you strive for excellence in and out of the classroom, and that you have the potential to distinguish yourself at UCLA as one of our best and brightest."

four year regents?
so you are freshman not transfer.
anyway congrats :)

Eh, it was a typo on their part… Unless I really was “incepted” on that last flight, and those two years spent at CC was me in limbo… Brb. Having an identity crisis :).

@hammerchop, when did you receive this email?
if anyone receive the scholarship, please post it.

Gmail claims I received the email from UCLA FAO at 9:33am.

Grats. Maybe they took one of their freshman slots and gave it to you?

I highly doubt it. Like I said, it’s probably just a slight c&p typo. On every other section in the new FAO layout for regent scholars it acknowledges transfers and the two-year exception.

Man. Can’t wait until the OSP. Hopefully I’ll be able to make it.

Hi all,
I first received an email that’s exactly same as hammerchop’s post above. And then I was able to see it under My Fao after logging in to New Bruins website. I found the same congratulatory letter as hammerchop’s except mine has two-years instead of four-years. I hope everyone get it too.

Here is the copy:

Dear________,

On behalf of the University of California and the UC Board of Regents, I am extremely pleased to offer you a two-year Regents Scholarship to UCLA.

It is evident that you strive for excellence in and out of the classroom, and that you have the potential to distinguish yourself at UCLA as one of our best and brightest.

In the next few weeks, you will face the important and undoubtedly exciting decision of which college or university to attend – a decision that will significantly affect your future. My colleagues and I hope that you will choose to pursue the next phase of your education at UCLA. We are confident that you are capable of reaching the heights of success as a member of our campus community.

Congratulations on your selection as a Regents Scholar, and welcome to UCLA!

@sunnydelight
Glad someone else received it! Haha, had me worried a bit. But yeah, they definitely messed up on the congratulatory letters to transfers. Even though your letter says two-years, they still typed 72,644 students, which is the amount of Freshmen applicants whereas there were around ~16,000 transfer applicants, and furthermore they typed “most prestigious scholarship for incoming UC freshmen,” not transfers… Ah well.

Congratulations nonetheless! If you have a facebook feel free to join a group I’ve made for UCLA 2012 transfers! [UCLA 2012 Transfer Students](UCLA 2012 Transfer Students | Facebook)
