Hi. I’m a community college student that just got accepted to UCSD for Biochemistry; however, I’m missing like 4 courses they require me to complete. For some background info, I have a 3.6 GPA with a big uptrend. I went from failing out of school in 2017 to earning A’s on most of my courses here.
So, how come I got accepted and is this common? Idk what to do at this point cuz I definitely won’t have those classes completed by the time I transfer in Fall 2020.
If you got accepted and they aren’t on your list of courses, they are obviously letting you in. Don’t confuse required courses with recommended courses. Many times the major says complete as many as possible. Go back to assist and study the wording, especially at the top.
However, as I said, if those courses are clearly not in your course list then admissions was okay with it.
Ah, It seems like I got accepted while they ARE on my list of required courses.
I made sure to distinguish “required” courses vs “recommended” courses. I was looking on their website (rather than assist) for their required courses for Biochemistry. And yea, it lists a couple sequences that I haven’t even started on. For example, they want me to do 1 year each of Physics, Ochem, Gen chem, and Calculus. Vs what I’ve done, which is 1 year each of Biology, Gen chem and Calculus.
So I’m pretty much missing 4 courses(2 from physics and 2 from ochem) worth of major requirements. Yet they sent an acceptance. Hm.
Haha that’s what I heard about UCSD but didn’t know whether those rumors about them being chill about major requirements were true or not. Appreciate it!
