I got in as well, and my interview was probably after they made a decision. So drawing from a sample size of two, if don't get an interview, you're in?

My parents are telling me to e-mail them for an interview...but I think that kind of looks bad. Are interviews really important in admission decisions?

I'm not too keen on having one :[

the guy who just interviewed me was the absolute man!

i STILL haven't been contacted for interview. sniff

If you really, really want an interview, you can blitz admissions and ask how you can request an interview.

They will probably direct you to your local alumni person who will help coordinate getting one for you.

I'm doing mine today at 5:00-I'm not going to be able to sit still all day.

^How'd it go colinization?

Actually, it seemed to go very well. I was very comfortable, he was very nice, and I could see he liked my answers. He said several times "Yeah, you'll be a really good fit at Dartmouth." He concluded with something like "Well, your review will certainly be positive, what it's worth I'm not sure." So I've done all I can-now two or three weeks of waiting.

I got my interview email last Tuesday (the 18th) and then had the interview on last Friday. If anyone still hasn't had their interview yet, I have a suggestion. Try to ask your interviewer about what they did with their life after graduating from Dartmouth. My interviewer happened to adopt two twin girls from China and I am in my second year of a Chinese language and culture class, so we had a lot to talk about. Good luck! :)

had my interview
i think i went well :/
there were three of them, all from different decades of D class

imaia24,

Triple-teamed!! Wow I'm jealous. I never got even a single interviewer. You rock!

My son had a lunch with a D grad (business assoc of his dad's) when he was deciding about his chances at Dartmouth. The guy loved him, contacted admissions on his behalf blah blah. So son applied ED. Never got a call for an "official" alumni interview, but isn't going to contact admissions because maybe they consider the lunch good enough? Or... maybe it's just not happening. I also think it depends on where you live and the active D alumni in your area. Still.. I am thinking contacting admissions at this point is just more or less bugging them unless your telling them something new and exciting about yourself like your first quarter grades or some award you've won.

However, I am thinking we're all pretty much guessing, even those who have gone through it before. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in who gets interviews and who gets in, just like grades, tests, etc. as well.

I work at the admissions office and interviews are no longer considered a serious part of the process - the admissions committee doesn't really care if you have an interview or not. It's just too hard to ensure everyone gets one - even in alumni-rich places like the Northeast, many people go without interviews. The only place where it explicitly makes a difference is international admissions - the admissions office will ask alumni to contact applicants who they need more information about.

I guess it's good that I got an interview then :)

i never got contacted by email for interview. i got two missed calls from a random person and i tried calling that person back but he or she didn't pick up. i hope that person doesnt contact dartmouth telling them that i ignored him or her.

Good to know Johnleemk.

Now maybe you can shed some light on this notification date? Some are saying the 11th and some are saying even sooner, and still others are saying later? What is the office shooting for?

How long before you were called for interview after submitting application. has anyone rec'd interview for RD?

i did my interview this past sunday, also was interviewed by two people. it was very comfortable, relaxed, and the interviewers were great, had lots of questions and interest in my ECs.

I was just called for the interview yesterday, having it on thursday. It won't really help me much at this point, but it can't hurt.
