My sons friend said he found out he was in by trying to access his 10 digit Indiana number, by putting in his name, birthdate, and social and bingo....one came up. Does anyone know about this? When do decisions come out? Thanks.

3-4 weeks from application being complete.

so in other words, for those that applied 4 weeks ago, they could have heard already? Just want to be sure.

Yeah basically. Some kids from my school applied in the beginning of October and have gotten results back already.

ctmomof3,

I tried entering my last name and birth date...but I don't know my 10 digit number. I tried my social but that is only 9 digits, so it didn't process.

Holy crap, I just tried that and it worked. Does that mean Im in?

Use this page. https://itaccounts.iu.edu/ss/emplid_lookup.cgi
Thats to find your student ID #. Does that mean your accepted if your have one?

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but it says I have one too, and it hasn't hardly been enough time for them to review my app. I hope I'm wrong...and Go Hoosiers!

It makes sense only because I am sure they can make a decision in 4-5 days, especially because they have no essays, but it takes more time to send out the decisions in the mail and etc.

Lets think about it. It stays you only get that code with your acceptance letter, so if your accepted you will have one, therefore if you have one you are accepted? Im Praying.

Yah I have an ID number too....so I hope i was accepted as well.

Possibly see you guys next year! So sweettt.

Son has one, too. Interesting. Guess we'll find out eventually!

But I'm pretty sure you get this ID as soon as you submit your application.

University ID and Social Security Number

To help maintain the privacy of students’ Social Security Numbers, the Student Information System (SIS) uses a random primary identifier for student records called the University ID (UID). The UID has replaced the Student Identification Number (often the social security number) as the key to student records.

But why will it let me set up my email account if I wasn't accepted? Or why does it say you can only get this number from your acceptance letter?

Yah that is where I'm confused too. It sounds like you only get it on your acceptance letter, but then I read that passage above...and I just don't get it. I hope it means acceptance, but I really don't want to jump to conclusions.

I think one of us should call them and ask if you get this ID if you are accepted or is it distributed when you submit your application.

Go for it. I'm not assuming anything for now but I'm pretty certain I will be accepted especially with the 80% admit rate. I want to make my email but I am scared that if I didnt get accepted and they saw that something might happen to my admission.

Yah I'm confident as well (with their 80% admit rate).

But yeah I'll try to call them tomorrow. But I don't know if I will be able to because of the 3 hour time change. I'll try to call at lunch because IU's office is closed by the time I get out of school.

Lots of confusion here. You get your user id name and number when you fill out an online application. They email it to you. If you can't remember what it is, then you fill out the form with your name, birthdate and social security number and I believe it gets you in that way. This does not mean you've been accepted. It's just a way to view the status of your application.

I've never gotten anything with that ID number before. I just dont understand how it lets me create an indiana.edu email account if I wasn't accepted?

I've got one too, please tell me it means I'm in.
