Hey, so it's now about the middle of March (or will be exactly on Monday)... since Calarts sends out their decision letters this month, I'm wondering two things:

1) Is it true they send out their rejection letters first? And if so, do they send all of them or is it possible they hold off on some for later in the month if they're still deciding on spots?

2) Has anyone gotten an acceptance letter yet?

I've yet to hear anyone get in for a BFA in Theatre there. Even on the Calarts Admissions page on facebook, everyone has gotten in for other departments or for technical aspects of theatre, not a BFA in it.

Hmm hope someone can shed some light on this! I'm just curious... and obviously very antsy since I'm awaiting my admissions letter!!!

I received my letter on March 1st but was rejected. I know of some people on here who have been accepted into the Acting BFA program, so I’m guessing your acceptance/rejection is bound to show up any day now. Good luck!

If I don’t get the letter tomorrow, I’ll call. I emailed them Friday, but they didn’t respond (maybe they were off for Easter Weekend?). Still haven’t gotten anything! Wow this must be a record…

Hey, I also applied to CalArts Theater Dept. And I also haven’t heard anything back yet! I emailed them last week and they sent me a general email saying that I would be getting my letter in a few days. However, I haven’t received anything yet! I might just call them today and see what’s up. Let me know if you hear anything, and I’ll do the same in return. Best of luck!

for those of you who got in…I want to know exactly how your audition went.
I auditioned but I didn’t get a little interview nor was I asked to do exercises or my third monologue. After some research I found out that if they asked you to do these things then it’s likely they want you. So i’m not too hopeful. =/

The same thing happened to me. I didn’t receive a card and wasn’t asked to organize a campus tour or anything. I did receive an interview, however, and was asked to sing. I’m not hopeful that I’ll get in; although I did feel that I did a good job at my audition, I’m not a good match for the school and I’m sure they’ll realize that. The faculty is amazing and I love the classical training, but, it’s just not the place for me. So if I get rejected, I’m cool. :)

I got my acceptance letter for BFA acting last night! For the audition, I did my two pieces followed by an acting exercise they asked me to do. We discussed my resume for a little while and it ended by them giving me their card. They also suggested I shadow classes for a day in the near future which they would set up for me. The letter is colorful and says congratulations on the backside. You’ll know before you open it Good luck!
