has anyone had an interview at dickinson, willing to share points?

this is for anyone who has had a dickinson college interview who would like to share the experience for fellow applicants considering making one or planning for their interview.

My son had his Dickinson interview on campus the day before Thanksgiving. He met with an admission rep for about 30 minutes. This was his 3rd college interview. He said it was more of a conversation (like the Lafayette interview), rather than an evaluaton (like the Wake Forest interview).

He and the rep broke the ice by bonding on a common interest. Then they talked about Son’s educational and career goals. Son came prepared with a 2 or 3 questions: study abroad, on-campus housing, and ROTC. After they met, the rep came out to the waiting area and spoke to me. It was general chit chat and a few questions. Then it was over.

thank you for your imput, it was very helpful, i had my interview last friday and it went amazing, the rep was a senior student and it was very casual and then about an hour after talking we walked downstairs and spoke with my mother, and then a bunch of other admissions people from the office over heard our conversation and popped in, which was good. i think it went very well but well wait and see!! Did he like the campus? as an athlete, the athletics department is one of the only things im really skeptical on.

Yes, we all love the campus…except the athletics facilities. Son runs track and has come to 2 indoor invitationals at Dickinson. The indoor track leaves a lot to be desired. But, since he won’t be a runner in college, it’s really not an issue for him/us. Everything else seems great, though.

I am applying ED II to Dickinson and I am getting recruited for golf. Will this help me get in (I have done an interview and overnight with a guy on the team)?

I did an Admissions Interview as well (one of many…) and found it to be one of the most friendly places I had been to. They genuinely were interested in my ideas and accomplishments, and made it a relaxed environment. Also, within days of leaving campus they had followed up with e-mails from coaches and professors that I had expressed an interest in. Throughout the whole process I have found them to be exceptional (Greg Moyer is GREAT) and think that it is a college that deserves far more recognition than it gets.

sorry I have a quick question, and i dont want to make a new thread.
Does Dickinson superscore for SATs?

My info is from a couple of years ago, but back then they looked at the highest score in each section. I think it’s still the same way today.

this is my problem:
i’m an international student but I completed my secondary & high school in an English-speaking school. at other colleges, this should be sufficient to waive the TOEFL requirement.
but I read on Dickinson website and it says
’ we suggest:# combined Verbal/Critical Reading and Math SAT score of 1350 or higher,… If your combined score is lower because of SAT Verbal or Critical Reading section scores, we will consider TOEFL results when reviewing your credentials’

I got 580 CR :frowning: and 750M in Oct SAT, so 1330. but if they superscore, I’d get 1360, cos my Maths at the other time was 780.

you can check out on Collegeboard what they want you to send. if it says they consider the highest from each section, then yes they superscore. most schools superscore. it’s to their advantage as well, so their published stats can be as high as possible!
