Just wondering if anyone had their FA offer reduced after reporting pvt grants and/or scholarships to the FA office. Maybe more of a first year thing. I mean, still going to report (and they will figure it out when the check arrives anyway)
If it was, what got clipped (work, loan, actual scholarship). w/o getting too personal what amount triggered the reduction/change
the package info says that will happen, but the local ND club awarded a scholarship which they work directly with ND FA office and there was no change to follow (got a new FA letter)
They should reduce loans first, work study second, then university scholarship. @MidwesternHeart you can call and ask why it wasn’t if that’s the case, I gotten a few external scholarships and they’ve always reduced loans first.
I think in our case it must be because of the extent of the outside scholarships. She got a full-tuition scholarship, plus a few others that would have covered most of the room and board. I believe they want families to have to pay at least some of the educational costs if they are able to, before offering up “scholarship” funds that are really intended to help cover the gap between the cost of education and the EFC.
