I'm pretty ticked off now - just got a call from D. She has scored a 4 on her AP Euro test - we were told thru her college that she couldn't use that for Western Civ, but could use it later (she's taking Western Civ 1 right now).

Today she finds out that her college NEVER received her AP scores and NOW the college is saying she COULD have used that "4" to skip Western Civ 1 and 2!!!

So first I'm upset that she has taken a course she didn't need to - second I"m upset that the scores weren't passed on. She called the AP office and they said some garbage about they didn't have her address or SS Number on her form (or that the machine/processor did not read it right) - LOTS of unclear info right now that we will have to sort out.

But thought of CC first - any one else have trouble with AP and sending on scores? I can't help but think of the hundreds of $$ that could have been saved on this class - she's just about 1/2 done now, so too late to drop.

I know we have more thinking/talking to do to sort this out, but ANY advice????

At first the college only had half his scores. I forget the reason, I think it was because he'd put down is SS# some years, but not others, he also put the wrong birthday one year, but that had long since been straightened out. At any rate they had him down as two students. However since my son was signing up for courses online over the summer and all the information about what credit was given for which courses was available he figured out very quickly that half his scores were missing. It was no problem calling up the College Board - they had the rest of the scores there within a day or two. Really my advice is for your daughter to be more proactive.

It sounds like the first problem though was that the college told your daughter she couldn't get credit for the AP, causing her not to even realize that the score was missing. It seems to me she'd be in the same boat anyway. I assume she'll be able to get out of the second half of the class?

When we reported my son's scores to his "safety" college this summer we received postal mail confirming the score recipient and which scores were sent. We have NOT verified that the scores were received in the college's records, but did you get a confirmation like that?

It's always good to check before enrollment to make sure the scores were received.

The only thing we got was the actual AP score at home in the summer. Since she was told she couldn't use it for the Western Civ, we didn't worry/think about double checking before she started since we thought she had to take the class regardless...

Yes, when she will (as far as i understand) be able to get credit for the WC2 class... it's just frustrating to lose that $$$ and time she put into the class this quarter.

Once we have all the info before us and really figured out, I'll consider suggesting D talk to her college about accepting the credit for perhaps another history class. She was flustered this afternoon when she called me and frankly so was I. I told her she at least did a good job contacting AP right away and getting the scores in transit now. I didn't want her to worry too much about it TODAY when it's midterms this week. We'll deal as we can...
