I heard that Deerfield made some calls to students on their wl to gauge their interest and will be getting back to them (and maybe others) on Wed. I have heard of 4 other schools going to their wait list today, so it is starting…

Regarding the post above, getting financial aid and a wl spot is sort of a double whammy—the stars have to align just right for you, with some accepted student forgoing his aid. I have never seen it happen personally, although I’ve heard that it does happen. To that poster—a top public high school sounds great, don’t feel bad about it! that’s where my kids will be going even though I am in the private school business!

My kid was admitted from the wait list last week to a tier one school. My kid’s friends have been contacted numerous times these past few weeks by admissions people at several other HADES schools regarding continued interest in being admitted from the wait list.

All are FP. All are hooked in one or more ways. Hesitate to give school names. But, the schools run the spectrum of the most selective. My kid removed himself from the lists of 4 schools accepted at and 1 other wait list. As this may be typical, there are lots of openings to come. Lot’s of luck to everyone!!!

i took my name off the waitlist for choate, hotchkiss, and deerfield.
oh, and i’m e-mailing groton today saying that i won’t be attending.
i guess that means a waitlister will be getting a very happy message tomorrow or so.

XOXO, I wish it were that simple. It is very important that students realize that schools know that not everyone offered admission will accept. That is why they accept more students than they have room for.

But congratulations on making a decision. You couldn’t have gone wrong with either school. I am very excited for all of you who can now, after months and months of anticipation, see your dreams becoming reality. I sincerely hope that this is but the first time you set a goal and see it come to fruition.

You all have a bright bright future ahead of you. I remember reading a rejection letter from Groton that was posted last year. It said something like, “Hold on to your ambition. It will take you far in life.”

So even if you’re in waitlist purgatory, like my son, realize that putting yourself out there for scrutiny, and being willing to “run with the swift,” speaks volumes to your ambition, your determination, your character, and your potential. Congratulations to all.

Last week a call of acceptance from a HADES school, for a girl and she took it. If not FP then very close and the present school was private and closeby.
