No interview for me, but I did get full tuition.

my timeline:
I got my application in to U-Pitt in mid November
got acceptance 3-4 weeks later
got scholarship stuff a week after that, honors stuff a week after that, and every-other-day mailiings.

A week or two ago I got my Chancellor's Scholarship interview notification. I'll be going down there in a few weeks.

here are my stats, for those interested:
SAT: 2220
Rank: 1/200
I wrote one creative essay, one really academic essay for the Chancellor's application.
I'm out of state.

Does anyone know how many people they select to interview?

I seem to recall around 100, of which they pick 10 to receive the scholarship.

It's already February. Has anyone else received a response about the Chancellor's? Supposedly, they make their decisions in April. There's not too much time left... I wonder how many students have been invited for interviews by now?

I'm still waiting on my response :(

I know there's a slim, slim, slim chance that I'll get the interview, but I just want closure like everyone else (if that's too much to ask).

Hang in there, HeavenWood. I'm waiting too. However, according to billybobbyk, the Chancellors letter for an interview came about 2 months later.

I sent in my application for Pitt in early December,
Got a letter of acceptance in mid-December,
Scholarship stuff about a week later,
Chancellors was filled out and in by early January, having to wait until school reopened so I could get a transcript.

According to this time frame, I should receive a letter any day now.

I made a call to the honors college. They said I should get a response within the next week.

I got a request for an interview today.
Stats:
3/750
SAT: 1570/2260
Wrote one essay trashing the question about life of pi and another I adapted my poorly written MIT essay to make it better.
Out of State.

Good to know that they're sending out notices for interviews.... Are all the interviews taking place between now and the end of March? Can you choose a date/time?

I didn't get an interview. No surprise, there.

Aw, sorry HeavenWood. There's no telling why some get interviews. I think my son should have gotten one but didn't. An educator I know told me recently that local kids (or in state kids) almost never get one of these, which I always suspected from personal experience. Maybe you can get a scholarship from your particular school or department?

The interview utilizes a discussion format with 2-3 UHC and professional school staff members and lasts about one hour. Interview times are available Mondays at 2:30, 3:30 or 4:30 p.m., Fridays at 3:30 and 4:30 pm and Saturdays at 9:00, 10:00 or 11:00 a.m. Interview appointments will be available beginning January 19 and continue through April 14 (no interviews will held on the following dates: March 9, 10, 16 and April 13). Please contact me by phone (***) or e-mail (****) to schedule your interview.
You will be contacted prior to your scheduled interview by one of our current UHC students who will answer any questions and concerns you may have, facilitate campus tours and/or departmental visits and hopefully make you feel more comfortable (or at least less anxious) about our interview process.

Kinda creepy? Kids calling you?

Kinda creepy? No, kinda friendly. Pitt is a friendly place, laid back, not all stressed out. Students calling prospies is a common practice. Heck, my D's Rice interviewer was a student! They told her she was going to have a "senior interviewer", which I interpreted to mean someone with experience, but...it was a senior...as in, about to graduate. Apparently Rice does this a lot, even tho' I found it unsettling.

She got accepted there for bioengineering, btw.

So until when will they be reviewing ppl for chancellor's and honors program? I have very respectable stats but have not been contacted at all and I had sent in my app in december so I am not sure if I should just call them.

The Chancellor's interview is great - if you're really interested in attending Pitt and it's your first choice. Otherwise, you're wasting your time and their time, IMO. You have to go in with the attitude and disposition that Pitt is where you want to be, nowhere else. I don't think this intervew is "exploratory." It's serious consideration for a prestigous scholarship for those who see Pitt as a prestigous educational opportunity. It's ok to turn the interview down if Pitt is not for you.

Good advice LBP. Last year people who got the Chancellors turned down places like MIT and Columbia. The competition for this scholarship is rather intense.

Actually, I don't see anything wrong with going to the interview as "exploratory", if you mean trying to make up your mind where you want to go, among several good choices. That's kind of how D looked at her interview for the guaranteed med school, and it certainly did help her make up her mind for Pitt.

Of course, she also used her interview as her campus visit, so that was when she toured campus, investigated options, interviewed at the honors college, and explored Pittsburgh. We're oos, so she needed to get a complete picture.

I'm in the same boat- my deadline for sumitting the application for Chancellor's was Jan 15th, had it in by the 14th, and still haven't heard anything besides an e-mail telling me that they had recieved my materials. So, ??. Also- do they send you a letter letting you know you're NOT being considered for an interview as well, or just if they want to see you?

They seem to be sending letters either inviting the student for an interview or not offering an interview. The "declination" (I'd rather call it that than "rejection") is very nicely worded so that the student doesn't feel slighted. I have no doubt that the competition for the Chancellor's is fierce this year - and those that do get it probably are, IMO, the very top-notch, well-rounded, highly gifted and talented individuals. The Chancellor's is a prestigious award. But just to be nominated for the Chancellor's is an honor, and if you're interviewed and don't get it - know that you're among a select group of students.

I heard back from the woman I e-mailed about when I should hear back about the Chancellor's interview- she said that I could expect to recieve notification of interview/not getting an interview in the first week of March.
