Has anyone heard from Carnegie Mellon yet?

OK, I get it, I won’t have us hang around the house waiting for the phone to ring. But if anyone gets a call, I’m counting on you to tell us all, so we’ll know “the game is afoot.” Promise?

settling in for another 4 days of waiting…

My D’s close friend (a CMU applicant) learned that calls were made last Monday.

Huh. So let’s all wait for our redirection letters this week! Yay!!! Lol

They couldn’t have sent out calls last Monday because they were in the middle of their NYC senior showcase

Take what I said with a grain of salt. In hindsight, I shouldn’t have posted second hand info.

That was my daughter hijacking my login with post #25. I don’t disagree with her. In addition, as a trial lawyer, there are so many layers of hearsay from you, to your daughter, to your daughter’s friend, to someone else she learned from that may or may not be first hand either that I’m not sure where to even start.

I’m not picking on you kwrinkle as I appreaciate you responding to the second hand nature of the info. But lets all try to be careful not to send all the kids into a panic unnecessarily.

When the calls actually do go out, the Internet world explodes. Heck, even the allied (facebook’s forum) has no mention of calls and that would be the first place you would find kids shouting to the mountain once calls are received. Before anyone thinks I’m really nuts, I’m not reading the Allied. I don’t even have a facebook account. It is where my daughter goes to talk with peers about what is happening though its noise to signal ratio is way higher than CC from some of what she has shown me.

Gosh, I’m old. ActingDad - I didn’t understand that whole last paragraph! I am never going to be able to figure out all the new social media - HA!

But I agree 100% about making sure the kids aren’t riled up unnecessarily. This is really an emotional time for them as it is.

^^I’ve heard about “the Allied” FB group, and the kids at Hartt mentioned it to my son on audition day, but he never followed up. He does, however, get a ton of news from the Facebook groups from his summer programs (Minnesota and BUSTI)–almost daily updates on where kids are getting in–and I think it gives him a healthy sense of perspective. Probably healthier than mine: why the heck am I reading the CMU thread when my kid didn’t even seriously consider applying there? :stuck_out_tongue: oh wait, I know, 'cause I see you guys have posted on it!!

I’m so glad I’ve never heard of the Allied FB page! I don’t need to feed the neurosis :). I will look at it after the decisions are in. It might yield some good info from a student prospective for my fledgling college consulting business :)

That is very funny, I too am on threads about schools we have not applied to as well (including this one, of course!!!).

As mentioned elsewhere, the calls have been going out this afternoon for Acting.

eerily quiet here… tumbleweeds are blowing across the screen. Either none of us got in or no one wants to admit to being the one that did. I’ll start, no call to our house but my son’s best friend who has had some serious disappointments got into CMU’s MT program - Yay!! I for one have mixed feelings about it being over, it feels kinda boring now. Everyone, good luck and god bless! See ya again in four years!

I’ve been hoping a few of the young men on this board would get a call from CMU and free up a space at UNCSA for one particularly awesome person on the wait list…

I’m all like, whateva. I’m over this drama around drama. I just poured myself a glass of wine. I mean, technically I drank a bottle, but I hate do do dishes anyway. Couple more weeks and we are done. Love it.

Me, too, Walker1194. My husband just made me a Rusty Nail and told me to Chillax.
Waiting on a few more schools…

I love the word chillax…I shall plan on that tonight as I am anticipating an empty mailbox and silent phone today as well (not from CMU…The New School).

I’m with you, photomom5…same school!

I’ve been listening to In The Heights, love that musical, that’s where I heard “chillax” first although my son told me he saw it in some sides a while ago. Such a great descriptive word! And definitely something I am looking forward to doing more of after May 1!

Everyone have a good weekend!

TO ALL CARNEGIE MELLON SCHOOL OF DRAMA ACCEPTED STUDENTS:

Is there a facebook page that we can all group up together to meet the class of 2017’?(Drama and Musical theatre only) I really would like to meet the people I will be spending the rest of the 4 years of my life with. If there is not, I would love to make one. I have been accepted into the Acting Program! Let me know. I would love to meet everyone.
