Congrats Jessica! My D is going to CMU this summer also and is a junior. You guys are going to have a blast!

awesome! I'm a sophomore!

If any of the new CMU summer people have any questions about things to bring or not bring, don't hesitate to contact me (email is probably best).

Jessica1289, when did you send you application package? My D is waiting to hear back from CMU...

I sent my app in on Jan. 20th, but they didnt get everything (teacher recs etc.) until march 2nd ish?

Thank you Jessica1289. My D's package went out on March 6, so we have few more days to wait. Fingers crossed!

mothermoo... we are waiting here also! Hope you get good news soon.

evasmom, did you send you package before or after my D's? In any case, I am glad to hear it is not just my D waiting. You know... misery likes company.

My niece is also an applicant, if you like company :D

soozievt, Good! that makes three of us.

I recall you mentioning that your niece was also interested in Stagedoor. We ended up asking for the deposit back and not making the February 15 payment. I hope my D is accepted at CMU, otherwise we are going to be looking for a summer program in April. Not a good thing!

MotherMoo....yes, she went to Stagedoor for the first time last summer and has been signed up for this year and has a similar issue with the deposits there because she may not hear back from CMU or the couple of other summer pre-college programs she applied to. She is going into Drama, not MT. She is on a college visit trip this week all the way from Alaska and was just at one of my kid's colleges and is heading toward a visit at my other D's college, among others, including CMU. I'll let ya know when the time comes and she knows what she is doing.

MotherMoo, I think we sent the application a day or so after yours. I called last Friday to be sure they had received everything and they said they had a big pile of apps that were not reviewed yet... so if they get to them this week and if they send out letters on Mondays as previously posted... then hopefully we'll both get good news next week. I hate waiting and I can't even begin to imagine what next year will be like!

Evasmom, it DOES get worse! An application for college could go in during Sept/Oct. of senior year and not get an answer until April 1. Good times.

My D just got her acceptance into the CMU precollege summer program, is waiting to hear from BADA and hada -we will look at you again' from Northwestern. Any comparisons on the programs?

travellinghopefully, when did you send your application? I am a little nervous now, my D has not applied to other programs.

We were talking with my D last night about the need to apply to other MT or Acting programs ASAP. Any suggestions? It is a little late to apply for competitive summer programs, but I believe there should be some options for her. She is also interested in Creative Writing or Dramatic Literature.

MotherMoo, My S pre-college app went in the week after yours. We called and they said we were complete and that they had a pile of apps ready for review.

MotherMoo - I think it may not be too late to apply for OCU's summer program - see summer program discussion thread.

Mother Moo... relax about CMU. You know last year at this time they had notified no one. This year they are working a bit faster, but my guess is that they are focusing on getting the college admits out first. As I recall t hey send out the summer stuff once a week.

Thank you for encouraging me to be patient. I'm going to need lots of it.

I called CMU to double check on the status of the application process and the admissions office tells me they show to have received the letters of recommendation, but the counselor and teacher recommendation are not in my D's file. They were going to look for them and would call me back Monday afternoon. Well, I called them back today, Wednesday, and so far no luck. They will call us by Friday to let us know. I made a little progress though, I now have the name of the person who will be handling my Ds application.

I also talked with someone at the admissions office on March 6, and around March 20th. In both occasions I was assured her file was complete.

Often they have these things, but someone has not yet entered it into a computer. I have found this to be the case during the college app process. That is why being organized is very important. I spent a lot of time this year calling schools to make sure they had x y or z. So now you are getting a mild taste of what you will be doing...
