Has anyone heard from New Paltz or Oneonta yet?

Okay. Other than Geneseo and Oneonta, are there other schools you applied to or have interest in?

@ joan I got into the EOP program that’s why…
Sorry for your daughter, I honestly wish I just would have been rejected from geneseo and got into new paltz though.

@jasa no. Lol I’ve had my heart set on NP for monthss.
I really don’t think I’ll fit in at geneseo, it’s rural as fu*k, like what am I going to do there? Sit in my room and rot?

Yeah lmbo!! I know what you mean. Ugh, I can’t believe they wouldn’t accept you right away. SMH!! I hope the best for you Sharon :). It’s a shame that they don’t recognize great students on the spot!

Thanks sooo much.
As soon as I get a letter back I’ll post it.
Iet me know what school you end up choosing

Okay I will! I’ll post it as soon as possible.

Sharon, if this helps, I was accepted to New Paltz with a 95.4 gpa and 26 on the ACT, do your stats match up? I hope this helps!

Sharon -

OK, 1230 is not a bad score; it’s just low for Geneseo.

No need to feel sorry for my D - she LOVES Plattsburgh, which also has an EOP program, although you might get in there without it.

I’m a city girl at heart - born and raised in the Bronx but now live in (and despise) the suburbs. I’ve been to NP twice and it’s really small but it’s less rural than Geneseo. My friend was taking her D to see Gen and their car went into a ditch on the way up. She’s now at Buffalo. Most kids I know like Geneseo because the academic environment is so challenging. Those who hate it are those who can’t adjust to the ruralness.

Wherever you wind up, you will do well.

Well, I giess it’s going to be Plattsburgh for my son as well - he did get accepted to several other private and OOS schools, but the price difference is really too much for me to justify. He’s fine with it. @Joan, maybe he will have a similar experience to your daughter and discover he likes it better after all. We are going to visit sometime in the next few weeks. From what I can see online it appears to be a larger town than New Paltz, which definitely appeals to him. What do you think about the two towns I. Comparison to each other?

*in comparison

Now I am just becoming more scared for New Paltz especially now that my status hasnt changed.

I GOT IN to new paltz I’M SO FREAKING HAPPY!!!

Congrats Sharon!

Yay, congrats!

Thanks guys!
Good luck lemons!
The letter is marked for feb 24 but the status online didn’t change till today

I am sorry to take some of the spotlight from you but what did it say previously?

Oh dont worry about it lol
It says your application is complete and a decision will be made shortly.
If yours still says Application has been received I would give them a call and ask if they’ve gotten everything because mine said that before in the beginning and then it changed when they got everything

Congrats Sharon!

Thank you:)

Hope you don’t mind me sticking my 2 cents in - just came back from Plattsburgh since my son got in and the area is great - very developed. He was very happy with it especially after just visiting Afred State (nothing there). All the stores, restaurants and hotels you need. The school is right next to all of that close to the hwy. Did not get to see the town though but I think there is even more there. I have also been to New Paltz to a B&B there. It is more of a town with alot of cool shops and restaurants. Nice but not as developed as Plattsburgh.

That sounds great about Plattsburgh, I appreciate the info - we’re going up to visit in a couple of weeks and I know my son will be happier if there’s a little more going on than if the school had nothing around.
