Has anyone heard from U of pittsburgh yet?

I sent in my app at the end of sept and it says application complete. Do they notify you via e-mail or through student center?

They will notify you of formal acceptance or rejection through a letter in the mail. They will send an email if they are requesting additional information to make an admission decision.

I am a staffer at the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at Pitt, and I will tell you that we have received an influx of applications, so it is taking us additional time to process applications. If you do not heard from us yet, don’t be concerned. We are working hard to make sure you will hear from us soon. Thanks for your patience!

Every school is different. For example Rutgers updates the tracker first, then school sends an email (you can apply to 3 schools) at their own time, but no snail mail. UMTC updates the tracker first and then sends a packet thru. mail UPitt doesn’t update the tracker, but sends a snail mail, an envelope; strange though, not sure why they don’t update the tracker of acceptance at the same time!!! This is all our experience as of today; 10/31/2014. My son was accepted by UPitt including invited to attend honors courses, but the tracker still says application is completed (not accepted to the school); could be better if they update the tracker too.

Maybe the tracker is only intended to show if all required items like sat scores and transcript have been received? We found it helpful to know that everything had arrived and heard by mail shortly after.

D was accepted to Nursing end of August, however her tracker still says complete as well.

@NJMOM. Is your daughter going to go to Pitt for sure? Mine was also accepted into nursing and fairly sure she’s going

@Jara123 …My d loves Pitt’s Nursing program and was thrilled to be accepted!! It is too early for her to make any decisions yet as we are OOS and she will have to compare costs, any scholarships, etc…but it is definitely in her top choices.

I got an admission decision yesterday. You may receive yours in the next few days.

I applied priority and sent my app on 10/15. Got an email acceptance today but the email had no details. It just said I was accepted. Expecting a letter in the mail with more info. Good luck!

@marylandgal, Yes! If you got the email today, a letter will follow shortly.

Has anybody gotten a letter from the Chancellor saying congratulations? My daughter was accepted last month and was encouraged to take courses in the Honors College. A week later she received an Honors College brochure and another letter about the program, strongly encouraging her to take courses. Since then she has been receiving weekly emails from Pitt, the latest being a personalized video with her name throughout. Today I received a letter from the new Chancellor saying congratulations and asking us to please contact him if he can be of assistance. My daughter loves Pitt and we are hoping that she gets some money. I am wondering if this Chancellor’s letter is sent to everybody or if perhaps it is sent to students who are encouraged to take classes in the Honors College? Not sure what to make of this communication- is it just wishful thinking on my part in terms of scholarship money? This is incredibly stressful and every day we are running to the mailbox!! Ugh.

I got some kind of acceptance in my email inbox saying congrats on your admission and it was some PG19 video what does that mean?

That’s the personalized video- it’s very cool. I have come to the conclusion that because Pitt lets students know so early, they like to send them emails etc throughout the year so you don’t forget about them. Whatever their reasoning is, it’s a great school.

@Mattc412, the PG19 is just referring to the fact that admitted students who come to Pitt are part of the University of Pittsburgh class of 2019.

An official letter with more details on your admission will follow the email.

@twogirls, Congrats on your daughter’s acceptance!

The Scholarship Committee has begun meeting and reviewing student’s applications for eligibility, but it may be a little longer until you hear. They will be reviewing applications and making decisions throughout the winter. The bottom line is that students who are selected to receive scholarships will hear no later than March 1st. Thank you for your patience!

A letter from the Chancellor is send to all admits, he wants to be personally involved in welcoming each student to Pitt!

Thanks for your quick response!

Received acceptance to Pitt Bradford, not main campus. Did receive a scholarship…Should I re-apply to main campus?

@whatabout‌ Did you apply to the Pittsburgh Campus and received a letter of admission to Pitt Bradford with information about our Options Program? If so, this Q&A may be helpful to you: https://oafa.pitt.edu/options/q-and-a/

Does Pitt email denials or do they only email acceptances and deferrals? In other words, if I am not accepted, do I have to wait for snailmail to find out? I sent in my application the third week in October and haven’t heard anything yet.
