This is an accredited Canadian high school in Switzerland where you do your 12th grade year, graduating with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. They accept US and foreign students as well. They offer APs, and one of the major highlights from their web site is the travel opportunities. For example, their Model United Nations is in St. Petersburg or Berlin, and the whole school takes various trips throughout Europe. It seems like an amazing opportunity.

I've emailed the admissions office to request information (their web site really sucks and doesn't have much information) but the admissions person is away until Jan 17 on a school trip to Thailand. Has anyone here had any experience with this school?

Neuchatel is a well known Canadian High School. Academically I would put it at the level of the best american prep schools. I have known lots of students at the better Canadian universities who went there. If you can get in-- go for it!

How competitive are admissions for a student from the US? What do they look at most (from grades, SAT, recommendations, essay, extracurriculars, etc)?

I suspect that if you are academically good enough to think of a top tier college you would be fairly competitive for Neuchatel. I guess they would look most at grades, some evident literacy, some intellectual sophistication and glowing recommendations from your teachers. Give it a whirl, the only sure way not to get in is not to apply.
