Has anyone heard of Saint James Medical School?

Has anyone heard of Saint James Medical School? I'm currently a freshman at Centre College but I don't think i'm going to have a high enough gpa or high enough mcat score to get into medical school. Right now I have a D in Chemistry, a C in calculus, and a C in humanities. Plus I'm not good at standardized tests, so i'm thinking the mcat will be a crash. At Saint James I can apply for the Premedical program and if i successfully complete all of the courses with an 80% attendance rate i can move on to the medical degree program. They also don't require an mcat.

Has anyone heard of this school? How tough is it? Would this be a good option for me?

I've never heard of the school. Where is it?

You should take this question to the Medical School Forum. You can reach it by clicking on "Discussion Home" in the upper left of this screen, and then scrolling down.

If you're making Cs and Ds and are bad with standardized tests, you may want to reconsider whether medicine is the right career path for you.

GoldShadow is right. Doctors are standardized-tested for pretty much their entire careers. There's no escape from that.

As for your original question...

Google sez: St. James School of Medicine

The SJSM does not appear on the California Medical Board's list of recognized schools. On the other hand, it does not appear on the list of disapproved schools.

Here's the answer I wrote to this question in the other section of this forum:

before you start looking abroad...I think it would be wise for you to examine WHY you are doing so poorly. Too much partying? Poor study habits? Material too difficult? Zero work ethic? Studying harder, not smarter? Situations with family or roommates? Major illness? The transition from HS to college can be extremely tough, and while your grades are certainly poor, if you can figure out what's going on, you're not too far into the process that they're deal breakers. Certainly if this trend continues, you'll need to explore other alternatives, but there's even still time left in this semester to do some minor salvaging of your grades if you work at it.
