Has anyone heard of the Global Youth Leaders Conference?

Hi
I started getting a few letters about this program to do over the summer.
Then like around a week ago i got this very face package giving me detailed info.
I am taking a guess it is just a money maker and nothing special(believe me I am a very mediocre person and nothing special)

I just wanted to know if amyone has gone to it and if was at all fun or anything.

Future Thanks

It seems like a legit program. It's mentioned on the US State Department website, and is recognized there, so I think it's relatively legit. http://www.state.gov/r/pa/prs/ps/2002/12251.htm It's pretty expensive for a 12-day program, though, so it is also a moneymaker. However, I think the program has its credibility.

Yeah-I know it is really expensive(cheaper though if you go to the US one instead of abroad) I am really intrested in diplomacy and international issues, I do MUN.
Thanks for the link!

You know, I got a similar fancy packet from the National Young Leaders State Conference. I talked to my GC, and he said if it askd for money, don't go. He said something offering that should be free, that it was almost akin to a scam. I thought it was legit, but guess not.

.-_-.

I don't really know-I actually was able to talk to my GC about it and she said it was a big deal. I am on scholarship at a private school and the school based on the student's leadership and grades nominates one junior student for this program.
I don't know-it still seems rather iffy to me. I am also considering to go to this two week session at the American Archecology Center(I don't remember if this is the right name). I am also considering to to go on a community service program-if anyone knows one that is not expensive, and preferably in the country please PM me or reply to this thread!

I just figured it was bs and ignored it. There are much more worldly things to do, like study abroad! I almost went to Portugal but my dad made me cancel that cuz of moving stuff.
